LFS is a racing sim first and foremost. The fact that you can drift is merely a side effect of its realistic nature. Considering SEV's purist tendencies, I don't see them supporting drifting. EVER. As a result I'm not at all worried about any of the garbage you people are asking for.
Well it's always fun to make your car have some extra spice added.
If any body mods were added liek bumper wise, i would say only liek 2-3 lips ot choose from and one differnet bumper at the most.
and in racing aerodynamics is one of the main things on cars, and in real life people change their cars to make them better. Something like dusty said would be cool.
And idea means its a personal oppinion, you dont have to like it or agree with it, or even read it.
Anyhow whats with the -1 BS, thats just plain moronic illepall
Just because my friend here is a demo racer and supports drifting like ALOT of the LFS community and likes the look off the cars that drift professionally over the look of a boring stock car, doesn't give you the right to bash him, lay off please.
I agree with Dustin here.
By the way, ChromeMouth has been around since S1 0.3H, and I think he deserves alot more respect, and just 'cause he hasn't payed 40 some dollars to get a few cars dosn't mean he's some bashtoy.
Why have ANY at all. It you include any car look mods then people will just bitch that they don't like the ones they can select from and will ask for more to be added. Same with bolt on wings and all the other stupid things ricers bits.
Correct me if I am wrong but in this but a drift comp is about how well you drift and has NOTHING AT ALL to do with how stupid you have managed to make your car look. So the winner is the most skillful driver not the one with the worst taste?
I could be wrong but that would kill ANY credibility drifting had if car looks could change the outcome of the comp.
i agree... but i still dont like everyone's attitude about tuning many of you here forget to note the difference between a car that is tuned, and a car that is a "ricer," and its annoying seeing that any car with any outside addition to it makes it become a "ricer"
I know it's a simulator, but what about LFS tweak? It might be an add-on but it's still changing the game. It's tuning the cars to how you want them. Body mods would be tuning to the way you like it.
If you have NFS, you dont bitch about when you get the ansty ass lip since it't eh only one you can get.
Shit, for this add a straight lip and a flared one.
Yep there is a world apart between tuning and rice but in reality both, at present have no place in LFS at present. If you can tune a cars performance then you get into a tuning arms race because who wants to race a car with X bhp when you can tune it to have Y bhp.
People already say the Turbo and the GTR classes need more balance so imagine what tuning will do if introduced.
The main difference I see between tune and rice is...
Rice = form over function.
Tune = function over form.
Lets face it, many race spec body kits can be as ugly as rice kits. The difference being that every square inch of a full race spec body kit has a function for aero improvements, weight reduction and drag reduction. A rice body kit on the other hand takes none of those into account, all that matters is looks.
The reason I hate rice is that in NZ you can drive from 15 years old WITHOUT insurance. Its rice heaven here with loads of stupid morons that think performance is 17" rims, a 5" mufler, a car dropped as low as it will go and loads of bolted on plastic makes a car great.
If you need a wing to keep the car on the ground - fine, absolutely no problem with that... But if you slap on unnecessary bodykits without enhancing the performance (hence unnecessary, you'll never reach the speeds to make them worth it), it is ricing in my book... So bodykits on an XRT are ricing imo...
WOW that was a nice mouthfull . well I agree to a point, but noone on earth said function has to be ugly, function, as jamexing said, really looks hot anyway so just because I'm thinking solely on looks doesnt make it rice, its taste.
(and on the note of NZ ricers, you dont have to worry, I'm from america where we have to pay even for the non-visible stuff, so I dont have the luxury of getting to try to rice a car )
and by bodykit, not jsut a bumper, but a widebody or sommat like that would be nice (not like the XRR's that is).
I actually like the look of function over form when the only thing that mattered to the designer was a single minded focus to make the thing do its task in the best way possible and no care was given over to looks at all. That sort of engineering carries a simple beauty that can be seen if you know what you are looking at and what the purpose is. Its similar to the way a maths proof or software code can have a beauty about it.
And adding this body kit and side skirts would do what to the car?
If what you are after is a car with more power and a neutral balance then ask for a car with more power and a neutral balance. Why does it need all the body kit stuff? This is the bit I really really want to understand.
I think the XR GTR's aero kit is kinda hot as is. The car looks pretty good in dorifto skins too and there are lots of really nice ones available. I assume there are some real good drift setups for it on this forum too. Point is, there's a souped-up XR with a nice kit on it already and it's adjustable to ridiculous levels ... leave the lonely world of the demo and you, too can have a body like that Looks like this has been mentioned on the first page already, but here it is for page two
after trying a 400+ hp xrt thanks to beckys companion app im all for a drift xrt
its fun to race too the laggy turbo (which wasnt quite laggy enough for my liking) makes it something i think road car masochists like bob would love to drive
Why even bother about arguing against drifters request's of a better looking drift car..
You wouldn't have to drive it, and it wouldn't destroy your gaming experience if there was a car in the game that was more for the drifters..
Drifting is not a side effect of racing, it is a official motorsport!
There is a difference between ricers and properly tuned cars, can you see it??
Drifting is indeed a legit motorsport (after all it's done with cars and people can win at it), and watching it done well is great fun - but it really isn't racing. My crystal ball tells me that LFS will focus on race-related improvements before anything else. I have nothing against drift but I'm thinking practically. It wouldn't make sense for the 3-man dev team to go to too much trouble catering for a fringe sport when the majority of LFS players are sort of old-school in that they want to go fast and win races.
You can drift just about any of the LFS rwd cars (and even the 4wds) with the right setup (some are even ok with normal setups)...so go do it!
Your right, drifting is about skill, the better you are is determined by ,well, how good you are at it. Your point is fine and dandy, but I mean think about it; you don't date a chick that looks like sadam hussien just because she's good in bed do you?
It's not that I think LFS should go all 2F2F NFS ricergay and be all drifting, not at all. I just want a car that looks as nice as it goes, thats all =]
What's wrong with the cars in LFS? The street cars look like street cars, the GTRs look mean and fast - all kitted and winged up with nice fat wheels, the single seaters look like their real-life counterparts (but those last two categories are in the full version only). You can skin them and set them up any way you want. The RWD and 4WD cars can be drifted like mad...I really don't see the problem with their appearance
I won't bag you just because you're a demo racer - we were all one once and it looks like you're a real fresh one, going by your join date - but seriously: take my advice and try the full version before asking for new stuff
And for the record: I've had mates that have dated some real Saddams - just because they were good in bed :zombie: I never let them forget it either
