Drafting
I think there should be a noticeable drafting in LFS...what do you guys think?
I think there should be, and clearly the devs did too, so there is..

^what he said.
Hehe ^^What he said X2.

It's definatly there and it's definatly noticable.

i see your at the oval junkies server... i would think you know that drafting is.. deffinetly there
The speed you gain by drafting in LFS is amazing. I can give you replays of it.
re
yes i know u can draft but it isn't very noticeable u can't tell that u are...
...are you kidding? its kinda noticable when you catch up to someone REAL fast.. try MRT for example, and go to aston club with a few guys and watch how much drafting you can get there

its EXTREMELY noticeable, i have no idea what your on to not notice it..
You have to be close to the car infront to use drafting. If you're too far behind them then your apperantly not going to feel it. Maybe you're not close enough to the car infront?
k8boy, u mean noticeable like bullet trail in matrix??!!?

definently agree ..drafting would be cool
i won more than a few races that way in nfs underground
anyway.hope you will implement:d
thx

...you already can
Which of the previous 11 posts didn't you understand. LFS has drafting, and it's VERY noticable:

You go faster
The wind noise reduces
You overtake people
It affects downforce (and promotes understeer)
NFSU drafting is VERY unrealistic... It's there, race F1 around the oval with a buddy, you will notice it there for sure....
lol, someone requesting something which is already implemented...

Because we're already talking about drafting, I have a few questions about it . Essentually, I know it is implemented in the game, but how much of 'drafting' is modeled?

What about when two cars are side by side? Wouldn't the air flow, rather than increasing speed (drafting), actually cause the two side-by-side cars to go slower because of the small space you're pushing air into?

Also, does drafting reduce the drag, and thus increase the speed, on the lead car as well?

I'd test these out myself, but I don't really have a very accurate way of messuring it at all, so I guess I'm more asking what your observations are.

Well two cars side-by-side very close to each other will actually go faster, but if there is a little bit of room next to them they will go slower.

I have never really seen much of an increase in speed being the car in front. Maybe an oval person can help out on that.
In LFS the car in front doesn't gain speed from drafting without bumpdrafting, unlike in real life. Side? No idea, but I'd guess it's insignificant or none.
Last thing I remember about drafting I read here, was that the car in front doesn't notice any difference.

Also a little note, if you don't get fast enough out of the corner, and you're driving behind the car in front, you won't speed up enough to keep drafting and he'll pull away. But if you're on oval junkies, I guess you don't know what a corner is..

dont take the mick, T3 at the Oval is HARD
It really pushes the UF1 to the limit !!

It's quite challenging though with an oval set in cars like the FZR, for me anyway

XFG/XRG at aston club is more exciting imho
hmmm wow..I never knew how sensitive people could get over 2 posts :P
Nah, we just though it odd, and slightly amusing, that you hadn't noticed it already.
