Rally 2003 review. Worth buying?
I was just doing a bit of shopping online for some cheap martial arts movies but could only find one or two decent ones so i thought i might add this http://www.gpstore.co.nz/DVDs/1463704.html to the list. Does anyone have it? I am a rally fan although i never followed the season but what i would love would be lots of onboard footage. Surely its got to be more interesting than the F1 reviews?
Isn't that official season review? Haven't seen that but the footage on the latest season reviews (2004/2005) simply sucks. Camera men are mostly shooting landscape and ad banners on the stage with an annoying "music video" style using extensive zoom all the time, just like the camera man was some 10 year old child who has no idea what all the buttons do. I would rather just watch the damn cars driving and nothing else.

If you only want onboard footage, you can find lots of those from internet too... for example here (TBK Forums, the ultimate place for racing vids): http://tbk.fameflame.dk/phpBB2/ (registeration is of course free)

Yep i get all my videos from tbk. I ordered the review it was only $10 bucks so not a total waste of money if it sucks

and now an opinion from rally fan:
I LOVE THOSE SEASON REVIEWS. Awesome camera work, editing, effects, colors, composition, goes well with music. Overally all the WRC reviews (not talking now just about these DVDs) are very very well done. I always cant wait for a 1h review of rally on eurosport to see the masterpiece

eg the latest one: http://don.vn.cz/temp/videos/japan2006_outro.avi
I dislike exactly that kind of camera work. Altough that's just an outro, which IS cool but the footage they show in the actual stage coverages is exactly the same. Obviously they try to make it look spectacular (also for mainstream viewers) but all I want to see is the THE CAR. For example when a car passes by the camera, it doesn't follow the car but instead of it shows rocks, ad banners, landscape... and too much stationary cameras with 10x zoom. I think they started doing this stuff 2-3 years ago. It just starts to get boring when you see it almost every weekend.

I'm sure all the camera men are professionals but they are still supposed to be making a rally program and not a music video for MTV. Instead of this music video style editing I'd like to see slow motion clips, like they do a lot in F1.
