Quote from Becky Rose :It's a lot of work to implement this and the reward would be a set of pre-defined pit stop sound effects that do not know when the stop is ending.

Actually, you get a "Finished pit-stop" message. And the "pitlane in" "pitlane out" messages are there too. What I mean with the in out variables would be the actual pitboxes because you could be stationary in the pitlane (and be detected as being in there) but it won't be necessarily at the proper location to start the pit-stop process.

However you are right, the "reward" wouldn't really be that great if it's used for implementing pit-stop sound-effects.
I'm already using text messages to detect pitstops for the stats and it does not work terribly well. As far as I can tell the wording of the messages change between single player, mulit-player and replay mode. I havn't looked into it properly yet to be sure though. Add to that different language configurations and you soon see that messages really are not the way to solve this particular problem. I dont want to lock LFSC down to just English.

Disclaimer: don't read the sentence following if you don't want to be annoyed by a pointless suggestion that complicates the matter even more.

Parse the message strings off the language .txt files, the strings have IDs.

Agreed though, it would be infinitely easier if there was a pit-stop start/end insim packet and surely more accurate. I go second the request for it in the feature request thread.

EDIT: Couldn't find the existing thread, if there is one, in the improvement suggestion forum so I started this one.
I had actually been thinking about reading off those language files for this purpose. Currently pit stops are broken on the stats and they are something I want to get sorted soon, there's also some radio messages I would to include when the driver is stopped too irrespective of other suggestions.
Quote from Becky Rose :That's interesting Shotglass. The menu's are not designed to be the most responsive ever created and that's intentional, they're trying not to hog up any CPU time. However in 0.51 they should (finaly) be fully responsive and my testing here confirmed that. I shall keep trying, but if the worst comes to the worst I will have to up the CPU priority.

did some further testing
the program responds perfectly well as lon as lfs isnt running every click registers immediately

if lfs is running they dont register at all (or at least i dont see that they do) even with priority set to real time and lfs.exe and companion assigned to different cores
however as soon as i alt tab to another window and back to companion the click registered so i guess its a problem with how the window is drawn (havent tried updating my drivers yet)

im running a 78gtx btw maybe a nvidia problem
Ah that might be it, if you click to the window instead of alt-tabbing that should solve it for now (shift-f4 LFS and click to companion), that's how i've been testing it. I will look into alt-tabbing and see if that is the route of the problem and then try and figure out what to do to fix it. The multitasking mallarky is new to me, as a games programmer i'm used to hogging all the computers resources .

hmmm noe it feels a bit more responsive sometimes (as in i does react after 2 seconds) but still clicking and double alt tabbing are the best way for me to make the tool work

edit:
btw is it supposed to take up ~50 mb of ram ?
yup it's the radio mod, but if you dont have enough RAM installed it should pagefile long before LFS does.
i was just wondering if its a memory leak that causes my problems
Eh.. can someone give me simple instructions how to make e.g. MomoLeds to work with this? I actually don't have a clue what the relay thingy dingies mean but I clicked "New outgauge relay" and then wrote the 56511 which should be right port for MomoLeds and pressed enter. But MomoLeds is supposed to use different OutGauge mode and delay settings, how I'm supposed to add those?

In the previous 0.4 version I had a problem that when I changed a car LFSC stopped working. Maybe I just did something wrong then because now the problem is gone.
I dont have a Momo wheel, but it should just be a case of opening up an outguage relay on the port used by the momoled software and then running the momo program. Some mods may require LFS to be running when you start them up as they may be expecting a response and get confused by LFSC accepting the connection but not replying, although the mods I have used so far myself have all been fine.
hey becky i try to run the main program from u (LFS companion) and it says memory acces violation...what do i do??all i want is the back fire thing..can i just dowlaod the backfire??
The folder structure needs to be intact, this is the most likely cause of the error you have.
Cant wait for the instruction manual :P
how do u get the folder "intact"?
When you extract the files be sure to maintain the structure of the directories. If you have all the files in the top directory you've done it wrong
how do you get the stats right from lfs onto a website
#68 - Jakg
#70 - Jakg
ok but how do i get THAT kind of info onto my website
Open LFSC+LFS etc.
Watch a replay (or a live race)
Goto Config menu in LFSC
Goto statistics option
Click compile stats
Wait for "beep" sound (my little easter egg)
Now you have a folder inside your LFSC folder called stats, upload this to your web page.
Eep, when my hosts restored the site from backup it has put an older copy of the stats online, the stats in LFSC have been improved since the one shown in the example and now includes a lap chart and individual consistency chart.
sweeeet
