I didnt know about the situation with turkey and cyprus so i never knew anything was wrong at the time.

The fact that the Turkey+Cyprus thing turned into a podium scandal and yet Tony Blair didn't hardly strikes me as neutral. Tony Blair is widely considered a war criminal in his own country, let alone the countries he has illegally invaded in the Far East.

I may be under the mistaken impression that he gave out a trophy at the British Grand Prix this year and last.

It should also be remembered the Bernie Ecclestone is a long time supporter of the Labour party and made that rather contraversial donation... *cough*

I think the whole thing is a bit silly to be honest. The FIA said after the Turkish GP that they would launch an investigation immediately as they must remain politically neutral. Surely remaining 'politically neutral' would have meant telling them to sort it out themselves?
Having said that, the organisers did break the rules regarding the podium, so they deserved some sort of penalty.

They got off lightly, they could of faced a ban on all international motorsport. Altough I am glad we still get to see racing there, its a great circuit.

You're right, apart of the fact that Cyprus is a country, Crete (unfortunately according to many) is a part of Greece and the idiom is way different (ours "makes sense" ofcourse, while the Cypriot accent is "just gibberish" :P) they're both just islands.

Only one side of the three in that argument believe it is a different situation, and that's the problem, and that's why it would show political bias to have Blair give out a trophy - which I thought he did, but am now not sure.

Turkey are the only country that recognises their occupation of Cyprus as legal, and the Greek Cypriots complained about it.
