If you could send me the smaller update that would be brilliant, or even just put the main file somewhere other than Rapidshare - my ISP (BT) doesn't work with it at all (Invalid session).
yep. it's in the new update. You can either get it from the download above, or from the whole package in the first post. I have to say, the carpark still isn't great, but it's a lot better than it was.
Blackwood curbs are now a bit more weathered/cracked. And the artificial runoff has a border at the repeating edge, which makes it look a bit neater. I'm picking nits here, but hey! Texturing is fun...
Things are almost nearing completion now- I guess the pack will be ready in another week or so, maybe a little longer. Or maybe I'm just being optimistic..? Anyway not long. I'm really happy with this update, I think it will be the best one yet. I've really taken a lot of time trying to get things just right, so I hope it shows. Anyway, check out the previews below and see what you reckon. I'll try to hold off releasing anything until I'm sure it's ready...
May I be permitted to pester you about M-VH signs. In the UK the company is called HMV, and the LFS version bugs me. I think it would look very nice with the corrected (albeit copyrighted) logo
I wanted to do it like that, but unfortunately Eric's modeled M-VH in giant fluroescent pink on top of the building (!) I can't do anything about that, so doing an HMV sign would maybe end up looking a bit inconsistent I guess . We have HMV in Melbourne too.. I know it's a rip-off but maybe Eric did it that way for a reason. I'm trying to stay true to Eric's world, the companies will all be the same, but the shops will all look different (for instance, there's a 'psychic readings' shop texture now ). I realize that working in low-res has it's advantages- the textures are a bit more vague, but in high-res due to the definition, everything stands out more, things are more naked. It's been hard sourcing textures which have that annonymous look about them which you kindof need when they're repeated everywhere. I think I'll just use 7-11 for the main shopping texture, as that's pretty much the way it looks in real life too!
Maybe I'll do the HMV sign, and then we can just imagine that some jerk got it wrong when they constructed the big sign. (He's no longer in the sign business anymore...)
It's simply 'South London'. Some of the signs point to the A11 (which I think is North London only, and then heads towards me), some to Twickenham (South West London) and others to Bromley (East/South East London).
So it's simply 'South London', and not a fully accurate real life place.
Nice work, looking brilliant. I espically like the appearance of Spar's, they're a common sight in the south of England. And the detail on the curbs etc is impressive.
