The free track editor is a plus, though I would much rather have new cars as the original formulas are something I don't want to be the only cars in any sim.
So far nothing really interesting happening there for me...
When we bought it we were told it was basically a 12 month subscription, so we could use patches and updates for one year. Will the elapsed 5 months be counted, or do we start afresh?
Of course, no one can say that Kunos is ONLY after the money - it's not like he stopped developing it because of disappointing sales, and it's not like he's forcing nKP users to shell out money every 12 months. His greatest achievement, as far as I can tell, is making me (and lots of others) realise just what superb devs LFS has, and how lucky we are. Thanks for that Kunos.
I await the patch (and the countless crappy 'The Mother' GPL conversions (what a stupid name - "The Mother". It's hardly that if you ask me, but even if it was the mother of all tracks, why give a stupid name for stupid people. Is 'Nurburgring Nordschleife" considered too difficult?) with baited breath. But I don't plan on downloading any of these mods, as a decent racing sim honestly doesn't need them....
I REALLY hoped NkPro would be a good sim, and it has potential, but as far as I am concerned it will never blight a system of mine, not matter what they do to it.
Kunos basically, took my money (and others) and ran, the sim in its original form was a complete mess, a total joke, and even with the latest patch, it is still next to impossible to race online.
They are going to have to go some way to improve, what is at the moment a steaming pile of cow dung.
I just hope they'll put in a tintop car at some time. Nothing special, just a basic vehicle like the GTi or XRG and make it available for demo, of course. I finally want to compare it to LFS, because that no-downforce single seater isn't really convincing me. It also has this dreaded understeer=light wheel feature, and I somehow don't believe that comes from the physics.
Anyway, there's far too few people actually racing this, which means that nobody did any real investigation of the physics yet. I'd like to see some slip curves and if they have the same funny lateral curves like most (all?) ISI related sims. Some telemetry data showing where those 90° tokyo drift "spins" come from would be nice, too.
I don't know, I have never driven a single seater like the ones in NkPro, although its supposed to be very realistic, I beg to differ, the 90DEG, for want of a better description, "flick" spins, are very odd indeed, the car just flicks to 90DEG, the back straight again, very curious, and the flat spot FFB is just ridiculous, but this is all old ground, and has been beaten to death like a 3 week old horse.
The original (=current release) lacked beta testing. It just wasn't anywhere near to be released. Maybe we see a more steadier release with features working... Anyway, driving those present cars don't really attract me, though the tracks it already got are on par with LFS ones. Some are better some or not. The only things lacking are physics, multiplayer, gui and stability. Basically all the thing where LFS is far better atm
They also changed the beta test team
Again, RSC got a small info post, while the italian sim racers got more in-depth info... Don't know if it tells more about RSC or the dev team...
So according to that it is basicly the same as with LFS S1 and S2. Or something like that. Though it is mentioned on webpage in a way that you could misunderstand it pretty easily... illepall
I think it's ever since the development on nKPro officially started, that most information is only available in Italian. Every time I checked the old namie forums, almost every (ridiculously hyped) progress report had to be translated with some online tool, with more or less satisfying results.
To me this showed how much Kunos cared about his community. I mean, those ~25 guys were the whole non-italian fans, yet he couldn't be bothered to actually write in english, besides a few self advertisement posts. But on the other hand... it's RSC, I would ignore it, too.
Wooo, nKP v0.2 is coming out, using the silly convention Kunos likes of calling it version 1.xxx. Don't be fooled, but at least they've done SOMETHING in the 6 months since v1.0, even if it's just making the apparently perfect software they claimed to be releasing in April load and work online.
And you think the internet will still exist at that time?
Well, okay, if they do the right thing and release a track/car editor right away, then it will probably not take too long. But then again, these cars probably won't be available for demo, I think.
I've never read a satisfactory answer to that question, but if the last 6 months of buggy, unplayable tripe counts I can see several thousand people taking Stefano to court!
I asked that question several times and the best answer I could get was: "Everything under the 1.X version will be free".
How long will v1 last? I don't know
BTW: I'm very excited with all the hype about BRD taking care of nKP (AutoSimSport article of October) I hope they can resurrect nKP, because despite of the tons of bugs and crappy things, it's a decent sim, that's unquestionable (IMHO of course)
EDIT:  my DFP lies broken in the floor and I missed GTR2 release, now I miss nKP. Pls Sacwen, do not release any LFS stuff until I get a new wheel
I wonder how much Kunos & other team members are pissed off that they had to rush with the release back in March. Now they have to clean up the table first.
Funny, nothing about this patch release on the official page. Obviously the dev team continues to be clueless how to handle PR.
