Quote from Rappa Z :we need a sticky saying that this is not a drift sim.

The annoying thing is rappa is that there is obviousley a market for it, and at the end of the day $$$ is what it all boils down to.
Maybe from the dev's point of view it wouldn't be a bad idea to cater a small portion of the game to these nutters...I mean all they need is the word "Drift" and there happy
I think providing LFS players with kickass physics and unrivalled MP code as well as a great variety of RWD cars (with practically limitless setup options) is the best way to cater to drifters - it also happens to make racing very enjoyable by the way

If you dont want to read posts about drifting have you ever considered not reading posts that have drifting, if you read a post(like this one) that mentions drifting instead of telling people you dont like what they are doing you could ignore them. Being able to ignore people you think are morons is a good skill to develop, some people might call it tollerance. Or you could try and just have anyone who mentions drifting banned or why not killed.

CSU1 im from wicklow though i live in dublin. Id like to get a racing lan game going soon with a few mates if your interested, smallish maybe 4 to 8. Not sure what we would be playing though, wont be any drifting. Im just wating on a couple people to get wheels.

Why?

If I dont agree with someone, I have the right to express this opinion.
its called "causing friction"

you have the right to voice you opinion

BUT

you also have the right to remain silent

and instead of saying "drifting has no skills what so ever" or whatever...keep your opinion to yourself because it may well cause a flame war and you'll prolly hurt peoples feelings who enjoy drifting...the same as the drifters saying racing has no skill...that offended alot of racers did it not....there is my point.

Quote from CSU1 : well that just condradicts everything you said above

Explain how?

Here's what I said first
Quote from Hankstar :-1 billion for any more fracking threads about bloody drifting, mountain bloody passes or tou bloody ge. I'm not anti-drift - I'm anti drift thread...

+1 billion for imposing some kind of painful (and possibly embarrassing) penalty for anyone who posts anything without checking for duplicate threads! At last count there nine billion threads about the above three topics.

Then (red bits added):
Quote from Hankstar :I think providing LFS players with kickass physics and unrivalled MP code as well as a great variety of RWD cars (with practically limitless setup options) which is what LFS already does rather well - for racers is the best way to cater to drifters - it also happens to make racing very enjoyable by the way which was a tiny joke - perhaps too tiny. I should've used more smilies

i.e., LFS should continue doing what it does best, which is provide a range of cars and a dynamic physics model which lets drivers choose exactly how to drive their car, but without catering to fringe sports yet - at least not until LFS is complete anyway. Who knows what will happen post-S3? If a devkit ever came into existence, that would allow people to make anything they want and they could drift S13s & AE86s until Armageddon and noone would have to start any more drift threads in this section

BTW the thread is entitled "complete change", which is pretty vague. How's anyone supposed to know it's got anything to do with drifting before they read it?
Why not change LFS's label from racing sim to driving sim? Ultimately, how cars are setup and driven are in the hands of the driver in question, so just concentrate on simulating cars as well as possible. This keeps everyone happy and would end drifter vs "grip racer" and vice versa flame wars for good.

It'll also kill this pointless "let's change LFS to a drift sim" thread for good while keeping everyone happy.
Well "driving" in the head of normal people would mean city speeds... Which would equal "boring" to them... Before you ask, yeah, they're usually not too bright...
Well GT4 used the driving simulator moniker, which actually worked well for its sales.

The word driving is an umbrella term that covers anything from city driving to drifting to full-blown circuit/rally racing, so it's always valid.
