In my own opinion, have to say that i think Tonix's design rocks pretty damn hard! Both red text versions look really nice and stand out, both work well on the black or white background so its pretty versitile for your skins (which ive not yet seen, thought they'd be shown to give everyone a better idea?) etc.
ATC Quicksilvers first one kicks ass too, but i'd say that about anything thats blue and orange cos it bl**dy rocks
Tweakers is cool too, nice and clean looking and still easily adaptable etc
Orions... I aint got all week to give an opinion on all them :P
B11TME, Dunno whether to envy your situation or not, all those kickass designs available and only 1 can be used for the team, so many to turn down (although the best 2-3 will still get goodies).
Hey i'm a pro gfx designer and must say tonix's design looks best for now. There are very good ones as well but that one is a step ahead i think.
I'll have a go tomorrow and if i get a good result i'll post mine.
I dunno if people think ahead, but having a vector logo is at least ideal for a racing team. Leaves the ability to use the logo across many forms of media, and especially have a large version if they want it on a t-shirt or something. It's the only reason why I keep my designs rather simple looking. "Special Effects" on text logos is beyond me, that is all... I used to do it, but found that more professional ideas are in simplicity, readability, and size. And only a few single colors without shading (for printing).
Just some other idea. Still needs some cleaning up
I still like my 2nd design though... looks sexy on a skin
Dont you go knocking those wonderful Layer effects!!! Theyre the invention of geniuses who allow previous novices like me to become masters of graphic design, behold the mighty Embossed text with drop shaddows which dont work correctly against lower layers, outer glows and other wonderous inventions that make so called proper graphic designers look like ametures while we stand out from the crowd assured in the knowledge that our overly embossed artwork (yes, it truely is art!!) is far better than anything you and your silly degree's and other certificates have to offer!
If you need hi-res versions, then photoshop has a kickass stretch & resize stuff, its just like vectors, can resize to alsorts of sizes and shapes, looks EXACTLY like the original... ONLY BETTER!!!
I didnt have time to play with the various filters, but i can do a tile look and blur, Blur's are AWESOME!!!
i agree Tweaker. Logos should be vector based and using less colors as possible. Those layer effects only work for web sites or tv purposes. And ps effects will make your work look cheap because everybody can use those effects. A creative logo with only 1 color is always better than a metalic, glossy, reflective, 3d, shiny logo. But it is the hard way to make a logo so ppl chose to use those effects to make it look better.
Toxic's logo can easily be converted to vectorel format and it'll still look good because of good composition and space usage etc.
Hmmm, the flag just reminds me of my Kyoto logo for MOE, and generally I found that I could really only make that logo "look good" if it was on a poster or something. And it takes up a lot of vertical space... when all you really would need in most cases is just a logo with text. Example being, logo on a website, logo on a skin, etc... having the flag and other external pieces just get in the way in my opinion. Tonix would have to make a "text only" version I think... so it can satisfy being placed on other mediums. Because as with that Kyoto logo, it's sole purpose was for a decal on people's cars and for poster/news pics... using that logo for a team name (lets just say Kyoto was the name), it wouldn't really fit quite right to a team's appearance. Look at McLaren, Ferrari, Holden, etc.... all text based and pretty simple... and recognizable.
Can be made into vector yes (if not already) but that's not such a serious issue really.
ITEK is very short and easy to work with for a logo, like I said earlier. But taking it and making it look "fatter" or "bigger" than it should be with other things around it... it kind of ruins the simplicity imo.
I don't know what else to think of for this competition, because so many ideas have been brought forward, but still no real information on what is desired. Do you still want some sort of "gears" in your logo? Do you still want to use Red and Black? Do you have a skinner that has some ideas for a new car design to work with a new logo??? C'mon, we need some info
Here's my work. i tried 3 different one. third one looked like a good idea at first but i couldn't find a way to make it correct take it as a start maybe someone has a better idea about it.
The first one is a bit more to a simple looking easy to read at once anda a bit of concept logo. the upside down "u" shape above the text is a starting grid line and it means itek racing is always on the grid looking forward to the race start
The second one is more to american style with heavy and strong looking letters which give the never give up message hidden in. And the calligraphic "racing" word gives it a bit of visual contrast and doing the "art of racing" image, or something like that.
Hope you guys like it. Not much time to work more on them but as a start i like the first one.
ITEK2.jpg would look damn good if it didn't have that chrome on there. Like for example, make a flat version of both ITEK and RACING, in varying colors. JUST to see how the design is done. That honestly would look nice if you could read it properly.
I'd like to ask which one/ones of the current entrants are the best ones so far? And as said numerous tiems, it is kinda common thing to have red, black and silver... (Psst: there are other good colors as well )
Does not really matter.....In leagues we enter as ITEK Racing but we are known in lfs comunity as ITEK. Either i am happy with
I think i said in another post that the 10th was the deadline....I hope to see some more designs by then. Lots of real nice ones starting to come out now so keep it up guys.
