Beginners Wheel
I have recently started playing LFS on my pc and i have to say it's fantastic although a little unreal using a mouse. MY mate also plays the game and i used his Momo steering wheel which knocked 2 seconds per lap off of my time. The force feedback was fantastic too. Like him, i don't have that big of a budget. So far i have seen to be what looks like a cracking deal for the logitech formula force EX wheel. Follow me

What are your thoughts on this and is this wheel any good?

Cheers in advance

That's the wheel I use. It's a sturdy make - has the same classic Logitech pedals we've all come to love and hate. The wheel itself is rather "thin", atleast for my hands, but that was corrected using bicycle handlebar tape. There are plenty of buttons, the FF is smooth enough and can be strong. Another mod I did to it was to bolt on some plastic bits as extenders for the gear-shift "paddles" - they're not actually paddles to start with (chunky buttons I'd call them), but with the extra plastic flaps I put they are now.

The only bad thing is that it's only 180 degrees from lock to lock and you have to tone down the FF in LFS otherwise you get extreme vibrations and the car doesn't want to follow a staight line when going down straights (setting it to 70% via the logitech profiler fixed this) no matter what caster settings you have on your setup.
Consider this: a racing wheel usually lasts longer then your PC. My wheel is already 5 years old. Spend a few bucks now, and enjoy it over the years. As for this type: I dont know this one, so no advice here..
Cheers
Cheers Lads. I'm also considering the momo wheel. One thing, do the paddles have grips on as i have a wooden floor and if not they'd be sliding all over the place.
I've just bought a momo form ebay for £40 which seems pretty reasonable
