so its time for the best race of the year and Skaife became only the second person to do a 2 06, just a fraction behind murphys 2003 record.

Mark Porter is the yellow car and he is in quite a bad shape. Drug induced coma last i heard.

the v8`s have a big following over here in the UK,great coverage on motorstv(sort of a european version of speedtv). we have live coverage of sandown and bathurst and same day full race replays from the other races.

I wish we got more coverage here in North America Every now and then throughout the winter they'll throw a V8 race on, though. Quite exciting stuff! I'd love to be able to follow it properly, though. Maybe I can get live streams somewhere..
Bathurst 1000 Live on Motors TV right now and channel ten australia (I presume...)
That new under car cam is great. Seeing the deformation of the tyre, just like in LFS, great stuff.
Man I love this track. If we could have Bathurst and just some generic V8 supercar style car in LFS I would just cry.
***SPOILER***
It was a good race with far too many full course yellows.
When they were actually racing, it was gripping stuff especially at the end there. I'm glad Lowndes got the win too; he's a genuinely nice bloke and aptly a good friend of Brocky.

Does anyone know how Paul Radisich is? That was a massive impact he had. All I know is that he was talking, but being flown to Sydney for treatment.
taken to hospital as a precaution. apparantly he was complaining of a sore back, so if that's the only problem, he did little damage to himself.
they really should have red flagged the race at that point- there were only 6 green laps during the fourth hour...
and what was with the safety car for the first jason richards incident at the end (the one where he jumped the track and buried himself in the sand)? that didn't require a safety car, it wasn't blocking the track nor was it in a dangerous position. should have left him there to keep the flow of the race going- maybe it was done to liven up the final 10 laps?

disappointed to see Jason Bright out early, but I think that Lowndes winning the race was the best result, seeing as he was mentored by Brock and he finally ended Holden's reign [/bias]
Mark Porter has just passed away as a result of his injuries
Quote from www.news.com.au :
RACE driver Mark Porter died today after he suffered massive injuries in a crash at Mount Panorama on Friday while preparing for the Bathurst 1000.
Porter died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney today after suffering serious head and chest injuries in a 180kph crash with David Clark during a second tier V8 race at the Bathurst 1000 meeting. Source

So many race drivers getting hurt

That was my feeling as well. There was ZERO risk to anyone but with 10 laps to go it did make for a great final 10 laps.

I was sure the race was going to end on a full course yellow for the lasp 2 laps but they let that one go.

Jason Richards was so lucky, the speed he carried when he went off was huge. If that car had gone sideways or he had collected someone crossing the track and that would have be v natsy.

All part of the risk. :/

Though supercars are fun to watch, I still like Brutes more. The first race I ever saw when I first watched MotorsTV was V8 Brutes, and I watched it like a religion, picking Mad Dog as my guy to win, just because I liked his paintjob XD

Sucks not having MotorsTV at uni though, I have to ask people at home to record stuff for me, or wait for races to hit the web to download
The New Zealand driver involved in a massive accident on the first day of the Bathurst racing festival on Friday died from his injuries on Sunday, his family said in a statement.
Mark Porter, 31, died in a Sydney hospital after suffering serious head and chest injuries when his Holden Commodore was struck by another car in a V8 Supercar race after the New Zealander had clipped a perimeter wall.
The news came on the day thousands of motor racing fans flocked to the circuit near Sydney to pay tribute to the late Australian motor racing legend Peter Brock, who died in a rallying accident last month aged 61.
"The family wishes to convey their heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of the medical crews who have been involved all the way through," the family said.
"They gave Mark every chance at life, for which we thank them."
Porter became the fourth driver to be killed in racing at Bathurst.
David Clark, the driver of the Ford Falcon that collided with Porter's car during Friday's race, was initially placed on the critical list but is now recovering and breathing unaided, a hospital statement said.
The Bathurst 1000, the meeting's showpiece event won by Brock a record nine times, was won by Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup. They were awarded the inaugural Peter Brock Trophy for their triumph.
Well down Lowndes & Whincup, great drive! The last 7 laps were awesome to watch...all that flying Kelly kid needed was for Craig to make an error or two and lose half a second somewhere, but he drove like a champ and earned that win! Bugger all this Holden/Ford rivalry - I don't care which car wins, that was damn good racing  Nice to see Lowndesy back where he belongs, on the top step

Terrible news about Porter though, so young...
That wheel cam is excellent.
