The online racing simulator
Quote from P5YcHoM4N :...and a kitchen to finish.

THAT is THE MOST important thing!

Quote from chopaholic :If its a sim for real racing etc, It should have compatability to change engine and bodywork parts because they do that in real life, Or are you one of these know it all lfs'ers who has never been to any track days?

So yea because i want the sim to become more realistic in giving us options to race with i want tuning mods erm NO!

We should start with a stock car in n/a racing series and work up! As your team gets more cash your car/s get better, for example you should be able to work up from a xrg to a xrt spec engine But you should be able to uprate turbo's etc, JUST LIKE REAL RACE DRIVERS DO. Also engine conversions would be nice, so you can have sleepers. JUST LIKE REAL RACERS DO.

And on the subject of me wanting spoilers. Why not? ooh no hold on, shit your right, Race cars dont have spoilers and different rims.

http://www.ceo-racing.be/Illustraties/CEO%20RACING.jpg

Guess what, WTCC cars, BMW 3 series, Seat leon, Alfa 156 and Chevrolet Lacetti drive on the same rims with the same spoilers mroe or less the whole season. As it was said, different spoilers and bits and bobs are put on in some races in some championships, for example in F1. But they put TONS of money into development, the designers can let their imagination go wild. With 5 parts that you are limtied to, where one is faster than other, guess which one would be used most? Yup, the fastest one. No point in modding. More or less no point in changing rims. What for? race cars have 1 purpose. To go fast. If they look good, hey, even better! it's all about being light, having the most powerful engine and the best aerodynamics. Wheter it's all the same cars on the grid or only 2 from a team. All the design is driven towards going faster. If you want the car to look nice, go play need for Speed. Seriously.
Basically I see nothing wrong with different kind of wheels as long as using one wheel type over another doesn't give any performance advance. Just some simple things, like different wheels, some skinned areas inside the car and maybe (few) different cockpit textures. I know it is eye candy but I see nothing bad if it is done well.

But no engine upgrades, bodykits nor stuff like that.

Maybe Sca(Vi)Er could make the cockpit update with a little tweak in it: Instead of having just one cockpit texture per car, we could have 4 or five (like the sidewalls) so the cars would look more different. And it is really not more work for Eric either because he doesn't need to make all those 4 or 5 cockpit textures, just one per car is all he has to do (like before). Just leave the possibility for the community to make some of their own and the possiblity to use them all at once. And the whole system would work like the sidewalls with kinda 4 or 5 empty slots for the textures, with one reserved with the Eric's texture. And it could be a part of the car color scheme, so you could choose the "interior texture" as part of the car color theme.

The question is, would it use too much graphics memory, but I doubt it wouldn't. Not sure though, as usual. And there should be the disable option as well

so instead of racing the car i want to race i have to unlock it and then tune it with the cash i earn? how pointless is that! you just don't get LFS, it's not about a career or tuning, it's about the RACING!
Come on guys, you are getting very boring with the same ol same ol comments, like "how do you know the S2 content if you are a demo racer", "how can you say that, when you only tried 3 cars and one track.. "
We all know that they all have the crack, and so what if they do.. it's their loss because they can't play S2 online..
And you all keep saying, "give the guy a break, he's working very hard"... well i totally agree on that! but what about that other guy..??! As i mentioned couple of times allready.. we HAD to get better looking cockpits a LOOONG time ago, that is really a MUST, but nothing happened.. and i don't think it will any time soon.. i hope i'm wrong..

Well that is all very nice and VERY DOABLE!!.. but give the guy a break.. he did the cockpits 4 years ago, he needs to rest..

hold it there, if you READ my posts you would know why I object

no matter how much you try to hide it, your basically saying you win races to get money to upgrade your car (...in a non-ricey way). However you can't win a race because 3 other racers have the next engine. It will take years for you to afford their engine. You give up.

I like racing to be fair, and equal (yes, I am a flaming hypocrite, I drive an FXO in the STCC!), but I wouldn't object to a... test to "unlock" a class, which outlines the basics of how each car handles
Hey Chop, you can do everything you want and more with THIS game, plus if you buy it used you will have some change out of your £24.
Then, when you get bored of thrashing all the AI on it in your super tuned car, you can come back to LFS and do some real quality online racing

I'm not having a dig at you here, it's just listening to what you want, I think you will be quite happy playing the game in the above link. No ricing, no updates, no competition!
Quote from chopaholic :i take it you have read nothing i have wrote? ffs. Not every ****ing demo racer wants Nfs style stuff. Stop being a trend follower.

I did read your posts. In them you descriped that you wanted LFS to be like GT4 or NFS (minus the arcade driving). And it's hard to take demo racers who basically want more content seriously. I'll leave it to you to think why.
The rim is only a very small part of the wheel, and is more often than not plain. Changing it would only effect the ability of the bead to seat/seal on the wheel, and perhaps a tiny change in inertia.

Unless of course you meant the wheel, and were just too silly to know the difference between a wheel and a wheel rim.

If you want silly different wheels just to look different then you've missed the point of LFS. Same with tuning - absolutely no need, and wouldn't make LFS any better whatsoever.

Stick with the demo
I have to agree with Boris here - it doesn't make any sense bashing this guy. The current situation is not going to change, no matter what he thinks or what we say.

If he doesn't like LFS the way it is and therefore limits himself to demo then it's his loss. S2 being the same as demo with more cars and tracks, from a racing-quality point of view, couldn't be further away from the truth, but maybe that was his experience, which is very well possible if you make the error of joining an all-cars-enabled server.
So he wants more free content for the demo, or feature XY in S2 first before he buys - well, guess what, thousands of other demo players want that too. Did any of these wishes change the way Scawen does his job? No. It didn't before and it won't in the future.

So what if we get S3 in three years with fully editable content, awsome graphics, full damage/weather/aero/physics model, Nordschleife and 20 new cars? If he buys then, not only wouldn't he have saved anything - it will still be £36 - but he would have wasted three years NOT playing S2. And here comes the shocker: it would've been his loss, not ours. Why do we even bother? Why did I even write this post? Seriously, I forgot while typing
