Main menu changes/proposal ideas
Hyperactive's fertile mind focused on the setups menu got me thinking about potential changes to the main menu screen in general. Here's a few proposals.

1. Hotlapping.

How about moving this into the 1st screen of the Single Player menu? There are times when I've come out of single player and I just feel like hotlapping, but I have to go back to the main page, click Hotlapping, and I'm back into the track/car selection screen. This is just a tiny bit awkward. A simple, instant 'Hotlapping' button somewhere in the track/car screen could potentially save a couple of button pushes. No big deal really. But taking hotlapping out of the main screen leaves room for other things like...

2. A 'Utilities' menu/button.

This menu gives access to a bunch of handy LFS related utilities. Here you would be able to check/uncheck more popular mods like the pitspotter, ghostmod, etc (assuming the authors and Scawen worked out terms). Basically just rolling the 3rd Party stuff which is popular, useful and of good quality into the game, making these things easier for people to use, and available to those who don't know they exist. I'm thinking something like Analyse for Speed... This little app is great and should be part of LFS. Why have to switch windows/quit out of LFS to see how your line is progressing? Just go into utilities.

3. A 'Resources' menu/button.

This would function as an ingame browser which makes it easy to access really useful sites such as LFS world, setup field, etc.. within LFS itself. (I understand Hyperactive's brought something like this up before) Or how about a gigantic, userfriendly carskins site, where you could browse and download skins directly into the game, according to car/popularity etc...
Probably a dumb idea, that's what the internet's for, right? I just thought it might be a bit more elegent to be able to access some of this stuff ingame.

4. A 'News' menu/button.

All the news that's fit to print..
Again, probably a dumb idea. Go to liveforspeed.net, right?

I would LOVE to have a LFS-site browser in LFS. It would be nice to be able to race, go to the main menu, and then pop up the forums.

But if you take stuff from the main page to and create a new "single player" page just for those, you have just created a new menu. And to me it sounds like more clicking is needed Smile.
I think there is a simple solution for this single player/hotlapping menu system: () If user doesn't set any laps amount or add AI drivers = the event is "Hotlapping". If there are AI drivers or predefined amound of laps = then it is single race.

I'd like to see a graphical user interface for the insim/outsim/outgauge stuff, +1 for that. Also +1, to see more lfsworld content inside LFS, at least the ability to download wr replays and browse hotlap charts Smile But a web browser in LFS is a bit overkill for that Wink

As for the car skins, I'd like to see something better for skins, here on lfsforum.net. Like something that checking the MRT skins, for example, would open up a gallery instead of thread. A gallery filled with preview images with some info text and links to the skin files. With comments for each...
And there are plans about making skin packs for LFS, linky.

But I'd like to see something more concrete Wink (like pictures, how would you implement your suggestions?)

The other stuff, I'll try to reply soon (have to make a lasagna)
