I have only recently got into racing the MRT. Especially round Aston club which is alot of fun. The car is so fun to drive, not fast but sooooo much fun. Was on just racing and had some close racing - 6 laps with 0.5 secs seperating us at the finish (thanks raffe and nigely - some great racing). Also the racing has been like that all the time.
Definatly some of the best racing ive had in my (relatively) short LFS career.
So lets all pay homage to the little MRT!

Yes, MRT is very nice. Too bad, there are almost never servers with it.

IIRC, in S1, it was by far the most driven car, after it got added.

Wasnt around in S1 But ive seen about 5 or 6 MRT servers tonight Maybe its the MRT's time again.

Twas in S1 - it was our Christmas present three years ago (S1H?), and it was lovely. The slicks were the best [i.e. closest to reality] tyres in S1, and the MRT was the only car with them (officially).

I remember being pretty damn fast in it in S1 too (happy days, long since departed). Never quite got that last 0.03s to beat Kirves to the WR (or whatever tiny margin it actually was) at SO1....

And then we got skid marks - hell, if you've never seen several hundred people suddenly doing doughnuts in silly little cars then you haven't lived I tell ye!

id like to drive it more often but its painfull to drive with mouse. the very sensitive steering...makes it a special car for players with wheels
oh well hopefully i can get a wheel someday

yeah mrt is fun. mrnl are currently running a league with it. Its appears to be quite a bland car to drive at first if compared to the rest of the cars but try driving it on the edge and very fast and then its a whole new experience.. its a tought little bugger to drive quickly....

I used to drive the mrt pretty much exclusively in S1, and I wasn't alone.
It was the only open wheel car, of course, and it was great for close racing. I have a lot of memories of some tremendous battles.

It's still a lot of fun to race in, but overshadowed by the larger open wheeled cars. Since the last patch, every car is much more drivable, too, so it gets ignored.

It's still fun to get into the MRT and drive the small tracks. I hope future updates bring us more tracks suited to the MRT.

If you haven't seen it, google the MRT. The real life version is cool, and takes off like a rocket. Probably a lot scarier to drive.

maybe we should organise a race with the mrt as yes there are hardly any servers available... ask a few people whether they would want a race, suggest some interesting combos and maybe we could have a race. I certainly think the interest would be there....

I was practising for my league race today running mrt on south city classic reversed.. ahhh so much fun!

I so wonder why it's quite so twitchy sometimes - realistic trait or bit of a miscalculation on the suspension front? I wouldn't be surprised if those damn things really ARE lethal at 100mph on a downhill s-bend, but in real life they rarely go above 60mph (100kmh), and have tight little autocross tracks. Thoughts?

Dont know if they are really that twitchy but i would expect they are, but as you said they aren't driven that fast IRL.

I reckon MRT provides the best racing. With less crap collision dynamics it would be even further ahead imho - currently it gets thrown around quite a lot from small taps...

Yeah, it really comes into it's own light on a good autocross layout. But a few of the slower circuits are fun too (but not as intense). As Madman pointed out, MRNL are running our third MRT5 league (first with S2 - still an in house league), it's nice to get acquainted with the old girl again. Far more friendly than in S1 when I hated the thing. Can powerslide her round now.

Isn't it a function of a tiny wheel base combined with a rear engined design ? I have no idea how much the actual engine weighs.

I drove the thing for a bit tonight after reading this thread, and it was fun. At least in terms of traffic.

A bundle of tracks, or one specfic arena with several tracks designed to take advantage of the car, would be a great addition to LFS.

I searched for a link to videos of the real world car, but can't remember who develops it, so I get lots of Mass Rapid Transit and Magnetic Resonance Technology sites.

Yup we had some nice racing yesterday (I was there too lol). We have this sat up on the lfsnorge server, as the next race in the norwegian cup is held at this combo. Looking forward to that, cause i think it will be a blast

Yeah, its a fun car to drive, I remember the OLFSL race, 60 laps I think on SO Sprint, pretty nerve wracking as I remember it, it really is a car that has to be driven on the knife-edge to get the most out of it, and its that style of driving so close to the limit that it might bite at any time that makes it fun.

Next time I see an MRT server online, I'll be in it!!.

Meh, I only use at the autocross, occasionally. I feel completely weird when I drive that bathtub with slicks on an actual racetrack

We where a bit sceptic on choosing Aston Club with MRT for the championships, but now, i don't have any regret at all. As you say, MRT is great fun with many corners, but i can assure you that the cars suits As club very nicely. Getting the best speed out of the few corners there is is actually quite a challenge, but on the other hand, it is something most drivers can handle. This again makes for some good and close racing

So Sprint 1,2 & Rev are my favs for the MRT. I think the straight on AS Club is just too long for the car.

Could always chuck in some home made chicanes!

aston club in the mrt has got to be one of the best combos for *racing* around. It's pretty dull to lap, but chuck a bunch of mrt's at it...

FE Club ftw The MRT's get loads of room to overtake on that track, unlike the larger cars, and gives some really action packed racing

I quite like South City Sprint2 and South City Classic reversed.... South city classic reversed makes the chicane a lot more interesting..

I dont like south city generally. But ive tried the MRT on as club and fe (small one lol) but prefer AS Club. The start finish straight and after the chicane are a bit long but they are good if you get a good run out of them as can overtake the one in front.
Also the last right hand corner where you have to break heavy is such a great overtaking place. Just brake on the inside and park MRT on the apex lol. Was definatly good the toher night, must of been about 10 or more people racing.

Only thing thats bad about it is that tap anyone or get tapped and the MRT goes all over the place. But still alot of fun.
