Haha that's awesome. We have similar things happen here at my college. The buses have a route that cuts across a portion of the campus. The bus driver's have a button they push to open up some gates to allow them through and once they're through the gates close. Some idiot people try to follow the buses for a shortcut and the gates close on their vehicle and trap them there. It's always good for a laugh.

It's the driver of the bollard who is at fault...

Reminds me of people that try to go around a "do not exit" gateway at campgrounds and stuff. Where you can only go through one direction because of the 'spike' rails that are on a spring. Sort of like this, but those bollards are funnier

There is history behind these, we used to have signage in city centres telling cars they werent allowed to drive in certain places, it didnt stop them illepall

So, we now have these bollards that let buses and other vehicles that are allowed through, but not the general public, if these people want to try and cheat this system, then its there fault.

They are generally to selfish/lazy/tight to park in the proper places, serves em right as far as I am concerned.

What about something you actually see when you're driving behind a bus. I know, signages are ignored by many people. But i would definatley say, that atleast two drivers on this video never ever thought about doing something "forbidden". So why not just a barrier coming from top or from the side? Something you actually see if its coming in your way while driving behind a bus.

But maybe i just don't know enough about the situation...

Oh there are plenty of signs, even if they didnt know, they are driving WAAYY to close to the bus, more than likely they are trying to sneak past.

Either way they are in the wrong, if they had a bike they wouldnt have the problem in the first place

The van maybe not, the other two definately were trying to sneak through. The result, their cars got mashed, oh well, their fault for trying to push through.

I think it's perfectly obvious that all of the vehicles in that clip are accelerating hard when the bollards hit them, therefore all of the drivers knew that they were in the wrong.

Stupid lazy people who can't be bothered to park properly or use public transport deserve all they get. Pedestrianised streets are not supposed to be open to general traffic, which means folk stroll along them without worrying about watching out for vehicles. Any clown who thinks they're special enough to drive down one is arguably putting people in danger, and at the very least is behaving irresponsibly.

the first one was funny the little toyota... woman obviously tried to abuse it as she was parked infront of them in the first place before she reversed out... the 4x4 was quite obvious too but the way the back of it rose and shifted slightly could have been dangerous....

its a classic design though, one that can only work in the uk.. hehe

I think its a good system, I remember seeing a prototype being tested on Fifth Gear and they rammed an Iveco lorry into it at 40 mph, totally ripped the cab off the rest of the lorry. If you get caught going into a "forbidden" area and you are caught on camera, you would probably just get a fine (which wouldnt be that much really), but if you get caught by the bollard, then more fool you for trying to do that, it will just be more costly to repair the damage to your car...Could do with that system in my High Street, that may cut congestion down.

Plus no insurance company would cover it because you broke the law causing the damage, so it'd all have to come out of your pocket.
