What about actual hand movement and feet control...?
Comparing the game to pgr3 " Project Gotham Racing 3 " I think by adding hand movement for the shifter and see the pedal response taking place by the driver, such as clutching, braking and accelatering, that'll take the game over board as far as realistic
It's been mentioned before, but it seems (to me at least) that it'd be a last minute cosmetic change. At the moment I turn my driver off, cause I'm the driver and I can already see myself in real life

It all comes down to a time thing - most of the community would prefer the team concentrate on further physics work, extra tracks/configs and some missing driving features as opposed to stuff to look at.

For now at least. This one is probably already on the list

Most definitely will since IRL, all my cars have had 2 sets of wheels, 2 sets of arms and hands, and I can clearly see my feet while looking out the windshield.

What Dajmin said. I'd rather they concentrate on the physics of the game. I don't display the wheel and driver as I already have on in front of me. I'd like to have an actual built cockpit, but I have everything set up as close to driving a car as I can with a monitor and desk. The space between the wheel and monitor acts as the dash board, FOV at 60% to give the illusion of proper spacing between the "dashboard" and the windshield while allowing me to still see the gauges. THAT is what takes "the game over board as far as realistic". I only need 3 more monitors to give me view of the passenger side windshield and both side windows. 5 monitors would be perfect giving me an additional 45 degree side view for the A-pillar/side mirrors.
I have enough with a pair of hands (mine)

Why not use a triplehead2go on 3 1280x1024 beamers beaming away on a 270 degree reflector screen? Doesn't get any more immersive than that.

Having said that, we'll have karts at some point in time (hopefully). Maybe some realistic in-car cams for replays. All of a sudden the static puppet looks rather cheap. Besides, wouldn't it be cool to create a custom in-car cam looking at your driver's feet and see them follow your own heel-toe action?

Not expecting any of this until weeks before the final S3 release, though.

Not worried about this at all. I have driver arms and wheel turned off anyway.

I don't need to see a wheel that just repeats what my controller is doing as I know what that is doing from my arm position

For a game this good, i dont think we are worried about graphics as much anymore.. for something like this, should be concentrated on. Good Idea matee..

Its the little things that make the big things

IE, its the hand movements that make up the realism..

But there is absolutely no way to syncronise it with the actual shifting. LFS can not know when you move your own hand for a shift, thus it will lag behind and look ridiculous when it only does it after the shifting happens.

Because of $$$$$$. Heck, I don't even have a separate graphics card. I have onboard , though todays onboard isn't all that bad with the ATI or nVidia onboard chips. I'm sharing 256 mb of 1 gig and run AA/AF, decent resolution, and get a very playable 40 FPS except with large field race starts.

Now there you have a point. Although the driver could be made to shift really quickly... And in replays the game would know when to shift to match them exactly.

I was improving on your wishlist, there.
3 beamers and a 'dome' screen would be cheaper than the solution you presented All you need to buy is 3 beamers, some wood, and a can of reflective white paint. Yes, so it's still expensive... It looks a helluvalot cooler when you see cars that actually have the correct dimensions in relation to your body.
