The idea that "I didn't see you" is an excuse is just the most ridiculous thing I hear. In cockpit view, when you're looking ahead you've got the benefit of door mirrors, a rear view mirror and the mini map. You always know if someone is catching up with you. And then once they get alongside it really isn't hard to have a quick look over. And when rejoining the mini map tells you all you need to know.

When someone says "I didn't see you" what they actually mean is "I haven't got to grips with playing LFS yet" or they mean "I don't care about other drivers"
I dont drive in cockpit veiw, and yes i miss my side mirrors badly...

Ever driven a real car with out them?

Mini map helps alot yes and sound but id rather side mirrors aswell

I used to drive wheels view but I changed to cockpit view for the sake of realism. I do think you get better feedback from bumps and dips in cockpit view. Not to mention the mirror advantages. Maybe you should try switching m8.
I also drove the wheel view for probably the first year I played LFS, just one day decided to try in-car and realized I could still judge the car's dimensions well. Also people give you less of a 'wtf' look if they see you playing and it's a car's cabin instead of a couple of wheels floating on the road.

It's funny, I wondered why this view existed. I didn't even think people would use it to drive.
