i was watching a video for NFS Carbon, and with a team of 40 some members, the video said it took them about 8 months to complete each section of the map.. crazy
not sure if it said how many members there were for the actual modeling, i think they were split into groups of 8 or so for modeling, texturing, artists etc.

and just to think eric does all that by himself.. sheeshe

nope, but you can look into the game Racer, in that game you can put your own maps (and its 100% free)

You can try to rebuild that track with the autocross editor. The result will loke like this:

Note that you need a S2 license to be able to use the editor.

The track looks quite flat and I've seen tracks with more interesting corners too...
