AFAIK it was a dunlop test driver (the CSR was on some dunlop racing tyres (road legal iirc)
I wouldn't be surprised if he was A Stig, there's been more than one of him/her.

Yup... there isnt any one "real stig" as with expensive cars (like the enzo and maserati Mc12 and also the Renault F1 car) they use different drivers... just look on wiki to find out
zomg it pwned everything...

i knew csr was fast... but faster than the atom??

PWNED

The LX6 is in now way even CLOSE to the Caterham that was in this hotlap. I am not sure exactly what model this Caterham was and/or if it was modified... but it was a trackday version, whereas we have ones with road tires... that could very well be the difference. But I am not quite sure this one in the video is as powerful as the LX6, but even lighter than the LX6.

LX6 is:

Engine:
1.8 litre inline 6
Power:
142 kW (190bhp) @ 8429 rpm
Torque:
173 Nm (128 lbft) @ 7059 rpm
Total Mass:
540 kg (1189 lbs)
Power-weight:
262 W/kg (358 bhp/ton)
Weight dist:
48.0 F 52.0 R

Caterham CSR 260 is:

Engine:
2.3 litre Cosworth Developed Ford Duratec Inline-4 w/Dry Sump Lubrication
Power:
193.9 kw / 260 bhp @ 7500 rpm
Torque:
271.16 nm / 200 ft lbs @ 6200 rpm
Power-weight ratio:
460 BHP per tonne!!!
Weight:
1,315 lbs (it is actually heavier but more powerful)

Other stats I cannot find
The Caterham CSR 260 is freaking insane... There's no way anything else even has a chance against it on that track. Maybe on a faster, more flowing track, supercars like the Carrera GT could pull ahead, but on tracks like that, it's untouchable..

Sounds amazing too, even for a 4 cylinder

IIRC the CSR was actually developed to be better on the road then the other Caterhams, and so isn't setup as well for track usage as the R3/4/500 etc, with more understeer I think.
i go to the harewood hillclimb, and there is a blue 2.0T cosworth powered caterham, 388bhp on his last RR.

the thing sounds AMAZING!

ill get some photos next time i go

Probably developed to be on the road too, but the car comes with AVON CR500 tyres. We have "road supers" which are close, but probably don't give as much grip as the Avons do. However, if you look in the video, the car is using "Dunlops"... so I wonder what type. This is Dunlop's Injection team afterall. But no word on what tyre they used.

doesnt start now till next year
