Additional Weight For Car
There are a lot of Championships in real where the winning cars get's extra weight. An option would be nice to put some kg into a car.
you can put people in; i think the males weigh about 100kg but i can't remember

then again.. it takes 4 people and a full tank of gas in LFS to slow me down 1 second.. (due to the extra grip)
thats true, this is one think what I was thinking about it as well
pit stop strategy is in LFS worthless.....

but I hope this changes as well soon
Both male and female passengers weight 70kg. However their use isn't possible in the race classes.

by the way, why are there passengers in lfs?
în the rally car you have allways a passanger

i see..

I agree...

I was thinking about that too!
I really can't see a logical reason why this thread should exist at all. Maybe I should do the SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST (aka read through hours worth of threads and posts) routine...

We can ALREADY add weight in increments of 70kg (passengers) and we can tweak the last bit of weight by increasing the fuel load. For instance, if a race is for 10 laps and each lap uses 2% fuel, you could easily get a car to run a ballast by simply adding say 25kg worth of fuel more than necassary to finish the race, since every unpenalized car would run very close to the absolute minimum anyway.

Why fuss over a feature that's already there and call it an "improvement suggestion"? This additional weight "idea" has been floating around and suggested for longer than most of us can even remember, so why this repeat? illepall
what would you do on a long stint where no place for extra weight fuel on a single seater???
Whats your problem dude, seems like you can just say the same ting over and over.
LFS stays for the most realistic race game, so now tell me way the heck not putting such a easy feature in it so that we can run realistig races. I dont need a 70kg increase by means of a passanger or a what ever math with fuel which nobody can control anyway.

FIA GT Championship:
1st +30kg
2nd +20kg
3rd +10kg

this up to a maximum of 100kg

How ever you are going to do this and how ever do you wanna control this??!!!........
when you get a group of 5 or so people that want to do it its easily possible, but the night i tried with some guys (whatever happened to it.. i think they stopped lol) after a bunch of random people came in it was hopeless

private server is a must for ballast races

@tommylee, i'll give you a pointer, adding 10kg isn't going to do crap, go race around a short track that you know best (so you will have stable lap times) and then add max amount of people, and max fuel, and watch how little it will slow you down
adding people has actually helped me in one case on that server that one night; with 2 or so people in my car i actually beat my PR so.. somethings not right
of course, I talk here more for league races

I think the same XCNuse what you say about the weight and the change of lap times but this means there is a bug look
when you go with 5% and then with 100% the lap time should be easy 2,3 or even more seconds slower

LX6 at BL1R - gave me more grip and let me go faster too, but slowed me down once i got the hang of the LX6
Weight slows me down now (in most combos - in others the shift of CoG and additional grip is a bonus), but only when I became mildly quick. But NAI is quicker than me (iirc) and he says it doesn't, so what do I know.
The problem with fuel being used as balast is that it can't be montored. With a balast system the admin could add balast to a racer so it would be totaly fair.

With the number of times you've mentioned torque curves and the Lancer Evolution engine, I think you're the last person that should be complaining about double posts. I swear half your posts say exactly the same thing, which I agree with by the way, but it gets old..

WTCC ballast scheme:
1st - +40 kg
2nd - +30 kg
3rd - +20 kg
4th - +10 kg
5th - ±0 kg
6th - -5 kg
7th - -10 kg
8th - -15 kg
From 9th onwards -20 kg
10kg doesn't "do crap"? Well better tell these guys, they're working in increments of 5kg!

If you find that a passenger doesn't slow you down, then you're doing something very wrong with the passenger-less car, something that makes you slow.
nope; i just have a LOT less traction when i dont have as much weight.. and that HAS to be a flaw in LFS's code

Alright, you do the test you told tomylee to do, with a slow road car, and show us the results.
i'll tell you what im going to do so we get as accurate results as possible

im running a GTi at FE Club, and will let it train for 100 or so laps so its at its max potential; then i will run it with different tests with different amounts of gas, and different amounts of people
that way there are as few variables as possible when it comes to drivers error/success

More weight can help a car to stick to the ground and that in turn can help cornering traction, minimise wheel spin and help to get the power down cleanly. Why do you see that as a flaw in the code?
because you get too much grip..
and it doesn't slow you down much, with the right amount of weight you'll go faster than you would without the weight

With the right amount of throttle control you can also go faster when carrying less weight, but that isn't a flaw in the code either.
+1
Imho is a good thing to add the ability of adding/removing ballast server side only.
Will be usefull for some championship.

Adding person to cars means adding too much weight, because those weight 80 kg, when ballast rarely goes more then 60
