Sony FW900 problems
since i know some here have an fw900 i thought maybe one of you could help me with this

for a few days no i cant turn it on properly anymore
sometimes it works normally sometimes i only hear a relay clicking but that "bang" of the tube powering up is missing and the power led turns from green to blinking orange
does anybody know what the problem might be ?
give it a good slap round the side - always worked with mine
already tried that to no effect other then a hurting hand
Go '80 style and throw the darn thing out the window

(while listen to Van Halen loud)
i have his 4:3 brother king of crt dotpitch then.

i had my tube replaced once in its life. they dont last forever unfortunately.
f520r and fw900 for the win!
I had Sony GDM-500PS (21" CRT) a while back that would just click on and off constantly for about 5 minutes as it was warming up. Then, if I ever wanted to change resolutions, it would do the same thing. I had another one before that on which the green just suddenly went out one day.

Only problem I have with my FW900 is that the picture is a little green while it's warming up.

My guess is the tube is just dead.
Quote from Forbin :My guess is the tube is just dead.

i doubt it since its working flawlessly every now and then
Could be the power supply.
thought so too but there are no "ballooning" or leaking capacitors or anything on it which looks like its the problem
Forbin is right, I've had the same thing happen to me. It would click trying to turn on over and over and would sometimes eventually turn on. It kept getting worse and worse until I gave up and bought an LCD. I asked someone who knew about monitors and he told me that my tube for the monitor is definately shot. If its an old monitor, better off buying a new one, kinda sucks but w/e.

Right now that monitor is sitting on my floor, kinda worthless atm.
im pretty sure now that its not the low volatage powersupply

the failure log says ive got problems with the abl which from what ive figured is a voltage regulation to adjust max brightness

any ideas on how to fix it ?
ok so i got that fixed and now a noew problem has come up ... the image gets jittery torwards the bottom but is fine near the top ... any ideas ?
No speakers nearby? Or AC-DC converters?

My old speakers where magnetically shielded.. great.. but the little amplifier still managed to make the CRT image 'jitter'. :/
noting that too close to the monitor ... plus i didnt have the same problem with the old high voltage board so it must be some fault on the deflection unit
