Here's a small suggestion regarding the starting lights. We all know they go "red, red, green" and then everyone takes off and crashes

I was thinking, since we have a bona fide RL F1 car in LFS now, that maybe people would like the option of using Formula 1-style start lights: "red, red, red, off, James Allen screams like a git" before everyone takes off and crashes I'm no coder but it doesn't sound like it would be a big job. Correct me if I'm wrong though!

Note: this should probably be a server-only option (maybe an offline-only option too) to ensure everyone's on the same page. I thought this would be a nice touch for the people who run BF1 leagues or servers and would add some more F1 flavour :up:

Maybe you could leave out the James Allen part though.

Mabye we should have WRC lights, F1, champcars rolling start etc.. that would be good and we can choose an option. But having Allen screming, hell no!! :P

Well you're right, it's not vital and not really an improvement as such. The option would be cool though.

Nice idea but personally i dont mind the starting lights in lFSD as they are now.

Instead of changing the start lights I'd rather have proper starts altogether. The start lights are pretty meaningless if we can't even have false starts...

the starting lights need to be moved away from the spam. i dont mind having the map under all the text spam but the start lights can be covered up.

Firstly I never said that there was anything wrong with the existing lights, neither was my suggestion meant to replace them. My idea is to have the option of F1 start lights, because I thought some might like it. We have an F1 car, why not F1 lights?

I said this, as well; "... it's not vital and not really an improvement as such," meaning that I realise it's just a little thing people might like and isn't addressing any problems with the game. OK?

I'd like to see the start lights to be either F1 style or all-red then all-green like it was in the BTCC at one point AFAIK.

Only if we finally get to start ourselves, and not be magically released in the right moment...

I guess it won't matter a damn which start procedure we have if we aren't able to react to it properly.

If I remember right there are 5 red lights.

Every second or 1,5 seconds one light goes on.

When the last light are is on they sometimes go out very fast, but sometimes take a second or two.

There is no green.

So while the lights look the same at every track - the moment they all go out are not the same. Sometimes they go out sooner, sometimes later. But the starting procedere of the lights is always the same.

This should really be added to LFS at some time
