Over sensitive steering problem
Hi there.

I'm currently using a PS2 controller with a USB adaptor to play LFS.

This works fine with just one exception.

The tiniest of movements with the analogue stick result in quite rapid movements in the steering, especially close to the centre point. This results in a very twitchy drive and lots of fish tailing due to over-correction during slides.

I've made several attempts in the options menu to 'de-sensitise' the steering and I've also tried to find a way to increase the free play at the centre point in the steering but without much success so far.

I suspect I might not be getting the correct combination of steering adjustments to solve the problem, so I was wondering if anyone here might be ale to suggest anything I should try.

I know a wheel is probably the best way to go, but I can't afford one right now (just recently became an S2 Licence holder :woohoo.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
When you start LFS, move the stick in all directions, to the limits and back again. Then try. You might find its much better.

OK, thanks.

Yes, I think I know what you mean.

It often needs a turn to the left and right after recalibrating the steering to stop it from jumping all over the place, but even after that, the steering still remains very sensitive.
Thanks guys.

I'll give your suggestions a try.

You might also want to consider adding a bit of a dead zone.

OK, thanks.

Where will I find the dead zone setting in the setup menus?
Does the yellow bar move progressively when you push the stick a little?

If not, what does DXTweak2 show when you move the sticks?

Quote from walshie :joy2key would be more useful to me if it wasnt some source code nerd crap that I dont understand but it looks like it could be promising if somebody could explain wtf is going on with it.. all the files have no extensions

and csu I've read that guide, if you actually read what I wrote you'll see its useless to me

Well I'm sorry it looks like you read my post that was directed at dungbeatle and bob

Quote from walshie :its just an internet forum, and presumably because of my low post count he's gone right ahead and assumbed I'm a noob (quite severely wrong) which must have lead to his initial comments speaking down to me anyway I couldnt give a stuff

thisnameistaken, you have been very helpful, thankyou. I tried searching for it before but as you said, I must have only been able to find the source code. I found various sites linking back to it so I assumed it was the legit file. once again, thanks

Ok show me where I spoke down to you?

walshie and CSU1, keep it nice please.

Calling someone a tosser on this forum within your first 4 posts ever.. that would be a no-no.
