Quote from Sp3cTr3 :omg DaveWS you tease. How far is this from completion?

I am a few days from the completion of my pack update.
I can't get the 'user' sounds to work...

I unzip the sounds to user folder, run CSR, tick the 'USER' box, then run LFS and nothing...
The sounds of BF1 and FZR (those which are in-built) work. Any idea what's wrong?

Sorry, don't mind this post, I had the old version of CSR. Now it's all OK.

I get that as well, just not as audible. AC'97 onboard with the latest drivers.

I have the problem with the AC´97 and the latest drivers, too.
Ok, i'm now uploading my 2nd version of my sound pack. It's uploading to filefront, so it could take 25 mins, or a day. Anyway a mirror would go down well once it's uploaded. Oh how I do like to tease.

Check your PM....
DaveWS, can you tell us what kinds of changes you've made to your pack? The original I like very much- what's new here?

bring on the purrrrrrrr
Here it is. Edited my main post. (details of changes are there)
Edit: File removed!!!
Well done DaveWS

These changes are definately for the better. FZR is a little more gravely now- I love it. I guess Jakg will be going all gooey for the FXO...

One thing, I noticed some crackle with the GTI and UF1, but I don't know whether this is a sound/driver bug or a problem with the samples themselves. Anyway, a great effort, LFS is really sounding terrific.

Legend the FXO sounds so sexy cruising about, 1st, psssss 2nd psssss slow down for junction its the dogs balls! :lovies3d::lovies3d::lovies3d:
Just thought that I would give all of the changes that I made for version 2 of my pack:

- New FXO sounds, engine based on a Subaru Impreza, due to both cars having a flat-4 layout

- New FZ5 sounds, based on Porsche flat-6 engine sounds

- New FZR sounds, based on Porsche flat-6 engine sounds

- Increase of volume and raspiness (slightly) of XRG, XRT, RB4, RAC, FXR and MRT

- Reduced percent of the fuel warning limit to 3% from 5%

- Various tweaks; engine pitch, gearchanges, drivetrains etc.

- Reduced volume slightly on LX4 and LX6

- Improved looping of some engine sounds, cutting out noises where the sound loops, e.g. FOX at high rpm

The "majority" of the sounds now use recordings from scratch, and not just ripped off other games.

I honestly don't know why that happens. It seems to happen less with some computers and more with others.

Its not the samples, because there is no crackling when the samples are played directly in say windows media player.
i've just downloaded the sound pack now what do i do with the file?
Have you opened the rar file yet?
any chance for a seperate download for FXO and FZ5?
Hi

@ DaveWS:

First of all, great job on this pack apart from a small problem it rocks

so.. small problem;

Why do the engine sounds sound as if I am constantly driving through a tunnel?

I read something about blending the LFS sounds in with the new ones,
is this what I am hearing? Two seperate engine sounds at the same
revs so it sounds like a tunnel, or driving in close formation with another car?

Sorry if it is a silly question, but how do I choose one instead of having both played as engine sound? I would think by default I would hear only the replacement sounds, but I could be wrong of course.

(There's nothing funny going on as far as windows sound setup is concerned btw, it's fine when I run it without the custom sounds)

any help would be much appreciated

To disable LFS generated sounds just press SHIFT+N. I don't recommend that though, less feedback. SHIFT+F4 get's LFS windowed so you can set CSR volume for each car individually. CSR remembers the setting next time.

I got mine setup like this

CSR volume for all cars 1 or 2

LFS:

Engine 8.0
Skids 1.7
Wind 3.0
Echo 1.2

Try if that's any better.

GJ DaveWS!
Well, I have my settings like this:

LFS engine volume: 10
Skid boost: 2.5
Wind: 2.5
Echo: 1

CSR mix volume: 10

Well, you would be missing other small updates, (click on sig to find what), so i'm reluctant.
Thanks for the reply guys!

I figured I had to tinker with the ingame sound settings a bit, but I thought maybe I had overlooked some option to override the ingame engine sound or something like that.

I Got it set up pretty good now after playing with it a bit..

Sounds the business.....again, great job

Shift+N... never even heard about this shortcut, does that mute everything or only the car sounds? At least if you turn down (in latest test patches can't even set it at 0.0) "car sound volume" slider in LFS it also affects tyre scrub sounds etc. because it's actually a overall volume.
Shift+N mutes everything, so when you use that with CSR you would not have any tyre skidding sounds etc..
