The online racing simulator
How young were you when you played your first computer racing game?
Another question for you guys. Just wondering as it says above, how young were you when you first played a computer/arcade racing game, well computer more like it.......
For me I'm guessing it was around 6 or 7 when we had one of the first macs and I remember having this game where you race a Ferrari around. Ofcourse it was utter %^%^&$#@ but it's like I can still remember the feeling I got playing that game........probably why I still get this feeling inside everytime I race online, or something like that
For me around 3 years old. Played this F1 game with my dad 10 years ago I dont remember what it was though.

about 6, and that was golden axe.
And Golden Axe is a *racing* game to exactly which extent? It was a bloody brilliant game though (until a few weeks ago I still had it on the 'puter.

Very young, so young I can't remember. I think it was even before the Accolade one, long long time ago back in the '80s. The Accolade one, Indy500, the original NFS, Test Drives, Lotus Challenge, Stunts etc. etc.
around 5. rad racer for the nintendo but that was console... also pole position for the atari

i think the 1st pc racing game i bought was the need for speed: road and track special edition

5 years old, Formula One (which was the 95 season). Then i got into watching racing at 7.. almost ten years later and still playing/watching (and almost racing :P)
Well my first racing simulation was Grand Prix Legends, and that was in 1998-99, so I was only 14-15 then. I had a Microsoft Sidewinder FF joystick, and man that was hard!!! But I was persistent in learning and trying to get good at the game (hard work pays off in this), because I did not want to go through the hassle of returning something at this one game/software store at a mall. Those were the days.... (along with MS Flight Simulator) .

Any other racing games, those go way back... anything on Nintendo, Sega, etc... but those don't count in my book, GPL was truly my first racing game . And then I started to have a growing interest in Formula 1 games, NFS titles.... and those were something else!

oh farkkk missed the word racing.

then it has to be indy500!!
Oh yeah, I'm just spamming now but I must add that Papyrus' Indycar Racing, Indycar Racing 2 and NASCAR, Slicks 'n Slide (Finns will recognise this one no doubt), Ivan Ironman Offroad on NES, Microprose (Geoff Crammond's) F1GP were among all my early childhood's racing faves!
If i remember correctly.. i playerd indianapolis500 on my amiga 500 back in 94 or 95:}
Super Hang-On & Stunt Car Racer on the Amiga, ~ 15 or 16ish I guess.

Then Indy 500, F1GP, etc.
I can't remember exactly what year but it probably was Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP 2 on the Sega Master System in 1992 or 1993 (when I was 7 or 8). I also remember playing Lombard RAC Rally and a Formula One sim on an Atari, but I'm not sure what year that was. The first racing game I played with some success was Formula One '97 on the Playstation (got the Playstation with F1 '97 for Christmas in 1997, when I was 12).
Probably Jaguar XJ220 on the amiga 500, dont know how old though, but under 10. Been playing them ever since

Hmm, Vroom and Pitstop for Amiga in the mid 80´s at the age of 15 or 16....
Uh, it's quite a haze, but the first must've been Grand Prix Circuit from Accolade. That came out in '88, so when I first played that I was probably 3-5 years old . The other old ones I can remember playing were Microprose F1GP, Stunts and some version of Test Drive. Then much much later came the ultimate sim: Super Mario Kart

For those of us in the mid thirties, we would have probably been a bit older as there were fewer computer games!!

My first memory is Chequered Flag on the Spectrum! So you do the maths. Blasting around Brands Hatch in an open wheeler. The only problem was glass on the track (eh?)

Although just thinking about it, there was a game on the ZX80 which had a top down view of a car and you had to move it left and right through the course. Eventually the track got so small and went so fast you couldnt get through it.

Strewth thats light years ago!!

I think my first racing experience was with the sega mega drive I really don't know which game it was, but I spend so much time with playing that game, that my controler broke ;D
Probably Crammonds F1GP and Skid Cars (I think that was the name? Was little Minis and you basically drifted ) for the Amiga
Would have been early 1995 - so I was 10 - I started getting into gaming with my first edition of PC Powerplay (issue 3). As to the game, I've no idea. Either the original NFS or ICR2 would have been the first "sim" surely, but I suspect I had played a good few arcade racers by then, Wacky Wheels and the like.
stunt car ( track ) racer ( 1989 ) and i was 24

MS- Dos version can be downloaded here.

Space is gas and arrows steers left right. ( Have to find out where the brake is damn)

That would probably be pole position on the Atari 2600
age 8 or something like that
Like many others, my first PC racing game was Indy 500, back in '94. I had played a couple racing games on my father's oold 'Intelevision' console, though. I can't remember what they were called though
Sega Megadrive game. Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II. a track that look nothing like real one... way back like 1993ish?.... then i got a PC... the very very first car game was nascar 1, used go on talladega, trying to crack 200mph on straight hehe
If you are talking about a non console game, it would be Live For Speed at the age of 30.
Must be F1GP.
