Yeah, the smoothness is a hardware issue. I had to reduce resolution to 800*600 to get fraps working at a watchable rate. Any less and the detail would be too crappy.
As far as the camera angles go, it was mostly unintentional (I'm a n00b at this), but I thought some of them turned out OK and others were, as you said, just a little weird.
I've got some ideas for another movie though, and I'm still getting my head around fraps, virtual dub, and the crappy movie editing too I have (Roxio or something). Hopefully the next one will be a bit neater.
