The road_super tires are pretty grippy IMO.

Compared to most RL road tires the Super Roads give huge grip.

Quote from bbman :I think if you try them out on slicks like they have in the vids you saw, you'd have to throw them round quite aggressively too...

I think they should be able to perform as well on LFS road tyres as they appear to on real life road tyres, at any speed. I don't see this happening with any setup in LFS. But as for road tyres in LFS, it's a race sim so I'm all for the idea of having race tyres available for all of the cars, and I've always said that road normal tyres shouldn't be taken anywhere near a race track. But having said that, I don't think LFS' remaining grip issues have much at all to do with the current tyre physics. Differential and chassis behaviour appear to be the main culprits from my point of view. I also believe the LX cars could benefit from a slower steering rate.

How exactly would you achieve that? Surely that's dictated purely by max wheel lock in the setup and the users own controller & controller settings?

In a real situation you would change the gearing in the steering box of a car.
So basically there is nothing to change (in our virtual little world)?

The steering rate of the car.
So, err, you want the amount of turn rotation changed? What would be the point of that?
Quote from Gunn :The steering rate of the car.

To limit it to certain range or to force the users to user some precise steering rate? Why? I just can't see it possible with the huge range of equipment people have home. I'm using a 270 degree wheel and most are using 900 degree wheel. And mouse users... I like the idea but imho it just isn't practical.

Maybe if LFS could automatically do it, but I could imagine that people would start to cheat it if the LFS defined steering lock was too big/small.
you can already adjust every element of steering rate as far as I can see. not sure what Gunn is talking about, unless he means he wants a dfp / g25...
I think he's already got a G25
OK, lost me too Gunn.
Quote from Gunn :The steering rate of the car.

I really don't think slowing steering down is a good idea, as you'd ever want your steering as fast/direct as possible on a track (exact same reasoning as your slicks for every car)...
heh, Just learn to turn slower :something
Road Super tires are kinda slippery. I can still break the tires loose at about 90 KPH in the LX6. 20PSI is about what I use for all cars with road tires.
Still quite fun to spin the tires all the way past a UF1 that is going all out.

I am still sad about the fact that I cannot find a LX6 racing server.

It's not that simple. Changing tires isnt the only way to get better traction. The LX6 only weighs 1189lb/540kg! If there was a Hummer H2 in LFS (I hope there never will be) then you would not be able to break the tires loose at all.

You could have joined the LXCC league.

Although thinking about it the time difference for you would probably awkward, being up from 4am to 6pm probably isn't ideal. I think those of you on the bottom of the world have a hard time finding servers full stop.

Hmmmm. But you can already effect this because you can change the amount of lock you get on the wheels independent of the steering wheel rotation?

If you do not man that gearing what gearing do you mean?

Yep, but there are a few good Aussie servers that pull in a good crowd of serious racers.

The main issue we have is the single connection out of Aussie to the rest of the world and that services NZ and Aussie + probably a few of the islands around.

The ping hit you take once you have to cross this boundary kills the idea of playing servers on the outside.
we had an lx6 series for MNR 2 months ago...
I'd join an LX6 comp if there was one going  All this downforce and grip the other cars have is starting to get old

I know what you mean. I am all for more cars without downforce, much more fun.
