Rhymez, I agree with Dajmin, if you can't take criticism you're definitely looking into the wrong business.

i'm a musician myself too, got an experience of about 6 years now, and this year I got my first release. My first tracks were totally crap. And people always seem to find 100 things that were wrong. But you have to learn it too. People aren't always right, but they can push you in a direction.

Of course you think; well but I don't want to make the same stuff as every one else. True, but, to break the rules you need to know them first. First you need to learn the basics. Don't try to re-invent the wheel.

PS - Your music really isn't my thing, i think its a bit rubbish, i cant really see whats that good about it, although Rammstein is more my thing...

Ok guys so if this competition thing aint gonna work for us,
sending cd's to record companys is a waste of time
and travelling to london (or another place) to chat with manager's etc isnt an option,
then what would you recommend we do?

It does looks like we are doin pretty well on the competition website right now so fingers crossed.
But we could use some advice as we are stuck for luck on what to do.

We thought we could post fliers saying "support your local band" and little things like that but im not convinced that would help at all.

I've not listened to your stuff, but unless you go in for something like the Pop-Idle-like competitions, you're not going to get far very quickly. The long haul goes something like this:
* Get as many gigs as possible. They're all important, right down to the small ones. Try and get a slot at your local club / pub. If you're near Bath then check out Moles. They get all sorts going through there.
* Don't be a complete cock.
* Get someone who has reasonably professional gear, perferably with a decent mixing desk attached to a computer. This will let you do lots of experimenting.
* You're going to make mistakes, and you're going to have arguments. If you're doing this for enjoyment, then you won't care. If you're doing it as a quick route to fame and money, then you're in the wrong business.

Well, Matt, you obviously weren't able to take in any of the comments posted here or you would have seen that there are in fact several highly knowledgeable people regarding the music industry, posting some useful and helpful information.

As for your references to LFS, we all know where our hobby begins and ends. We don't think it's real, Mat. We know it's a simulator and a game. It's something we do to pass the time after we've put in a days work etc. None of us think that, just because we do something as a hobby that we could go professional.

I mean.. let's face it.. you'd have to be pretty weird and a bit challenged to think that you could do something professionally just because you have the hardware to do it in your own living room. I mean.. REALLY!

I think you should toddle off and keep your music hobby as just a hobby, Mat. You have demonstrated none of the characteristics that are required to make it in the music industry. Or anywhere else I can think of, actually, either.
