hey all...
having troubles on lfs when i click "Display List of Games" in S2. It appears to work, says connecting to master server.... waiting for list of games. but the list of games seems to never come. a box then pops up saying "No Reply from Master Server".
this only happens in S2 when clicking display list of games. i can get a list of demo or S1 games fine and can join a specific game or find an online user perfectly fine in S2.

can anyone help?

I don't know why but maybe you have a dial-up modem and that combined with your extreme distance from the master server is causing a problem, when you look at the whole S2 list because there are hundreds of hosts on there now so it takes too long to give you the list. Though it's the first time I've heard of that.

One thing you could try : get a list of games in S1 or Demo mode, then switch off "empty" at the bottom of the screen. Now you won't get the empty hosts when you click for a list of games, so the list will be much smaller and should work.

And a workaround would be to connect to a server via lfs world.

get http://lfstools.crazyice.net/p ... ex.php?act=view&id=57

and then go to lfsworld and click racers and hosts online, make your choice and click JOIN.

i have 128k internet, and because we don't live in the city can't get anything faster.
It's strange though, because it used to work.
Anyways, I'll try that Join2LFS program and then get back to you with whether it worked or not

According to the online racers graph on lfsworld, the master was down shortly at the time when you posted.

Just go to lfsworld.net and click at home and watch the graph there, or take a look at the banners here on the forums. You will find this one every now and then:

Ok here's my problem, today I was on LFS at about 4pm and all was working well, then later on about an hour later I tried to come on but I got the "No reply from master server" message, then I tried again and again and eventually it loaded the list, but I clicked refresh and it was gone again. It's still doing the same now, pot luck if I get online.

i have noticed however that a couple of websites I tried to get onto would say "Page could not be displayed" then a few seconds later it would work.

So i've checked my firewalls and stuff but nothing has changed on my PC since the last few days and nothing knew was installed at the time of this happening.

Sounds like an intermittent problem with your internet connection. Easiest thing would be to try rebooting your router or re-dialing your connection.

If that doesn't work, try doing a few sample traceroutes and see if they give you a problem. Start > Run > cmd. Type tracert www.google.com and check the time intervals on the left hand side between each hop. Consistent, low times (roughly 30-40ms for greater than 512k broadband, 40-50ms for less than 512k broadband and 70-100ms for 56k) are what you're looking for. Any huge variations in times (or no times displayed at all) mean you're having connection problems at your end (could be dropped packets or something along those lines). If the problem persists you could phone your ISP or check their website for any reported problems in your area.

OK, I done 2 tests, both of them started at about 28-30 for the 1st few lines, then theres a random 47 in their, then back down to the 28-30's.

Towards the end of the test the results gradually work up to 59, although the last few lines are all consistant in giving the same numbers.

That happen to me about 3/4 months ago in the early hours of the morning and it has been doing it ever since try and give BT a call to see if they have changed any port setting or technical issue

Ok well I think it's Petered, been good for the past couple of hours but it suddenly wouldn't log into teamspeak, so I thought i'd try this test thing and the results are self explanitory....

Be phoning BT tommorow.
