I've been disconnected a few times from multiplayer game because my net connection had a hiccup, and I find the way it happens quite unfriendly: you're suddenly dropped to a screen saying you've been disconnected, with an alert-like repeating sound. When you're in deep concentration driving on the edge, this can give you quite a shock!

It would be much nicer, IMO, if the driving view froze for a second before fading slowly to show the next screen, or something like that. And please drop the unnecessary alert sound or make it much less agressive. Maybe something like oooooooooooooooo...

It would also be nice to be able to save the replay of the race you've been disconnected/kicked/banned from. If you leave abruptly I don't think you can save the mpr at the moment.

Actually you get loads of warning, the green bar in the network activity graph in the bottom left hand corner will get really tall. You get a good few seconds notice. Not to mention all the other cars disappear and get replaced with "lag: xx.xx seconds".

True (even though the last couple of times it happened to me I didn't notice these warnings). But still, it wouldn't hurt to have a more friendly transition.

How? A choir singing "You've been disconnected, your connection sucks!"? Or a big flashing red "ALERT!"-"DISCONNECTED" across your screen? Fade to black and restarting your computer?

Should we get Terry Wogan to record a sample with his gentle rolling voice, "Now dont be too dissapointed, but i'm going to show you a screen now which you might find unconfortable..."

Nah, that would be too long. And as I said, any sound is unnecessary, here. I don't think any of us is blind or needs a wake up call at that point. But if there must be a sound, then IMO a single synth tone would be much nicer than this eek eek eek.

You can fix that yourself. Go to directory data\snd and rename/move/delete the appropriate file. I can't say for sure which one it is, but "Error.raw" seems a likely candidate. (This is also the way to get rid of those irritating chat beeps and end-of-race cheers.)

I can see almost all of those sounds getting removed soon, since all you ever see is people complaining about them
