Its a bit windy in London
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6217514.stm

I thought it was a little bit windy last night, turns out it was even more windy in London. I have a loft room, and last night the wind was so strong i heard tiles lifting up off the roof and back down again. I live 2 hour train ride from London so the storm must have gotten bigger as it went further inland.
Thank you, Michael Fish.
Funny, was but a breeze up here. But them I am 300 miles to the north. Also London is the UK's very own subclimate.

Got a test about climates Tuesday, thanks for ruining all the logic in it!

Interesting

Quote :When land areas are taken into account, the United Kingdom actually has the highest frequency of reported tornadoes per unit area in the world. This was first recognised by an American meteorologist, Dr. T. Fujita, in 1973.

shut up
Bit windy..bit of an understatement for how its been down here recently. Although I thought it wasn't too bad today compared to last weekend

It's incredibly windy over here as well! I went shopping on my bike, on the way to the supermarket I arrived in 30 seconds, but it took me 7 minutes to get back! Hahaha.

I ride to school every day, I was almost late in school today, I just arrived after the bell rang first time.
It was indeed bloody windy in London yesterday. That tornado was 14 miles away from me.
what part of london you from?
I'm not in London but, it's windy here in Lancaster, California. It's 25mph winds and 29*F temperatures. warming up though. Good luck fro everyone in London as my school is coming there in March.
Tornadoes, that sucks. Yesterday in Elwood (bayside suburb of Melbourne) we had a 5 knot breeze, scattered cloud and it was about 22 degrees (Celsius)

It'll be a bit warmer today, likely to be a scorcher (30 - 35+) on Saturday - but that's not really a good thing. There are a bunch of bushfires ripping through the scrub outside Melbourne and the heat and northerly winds are only going to make them worse. It's been a dry year and there's tons of fuel waiting for the flames. Back home in South Australia we almost lost the whole property twice in the 80s thanks to bushfires (when he was a kid my dad's family did lose it all in the 50s). Ah, the double-edged sword of Aussie weather...
Was really windy up here in Nottingham.. Sounded like the house was about to fly off
The weather was weird here in London then.
It was sunny (but cold) before the tornado. Then suddenly it stormed like crazy, full on lightning and rain coming down like a waterfall for about half an hour. Then it stopped, a rainbow appeared and it got sunny again. Bizarre.

That's the second time I've been just down the road from a disaster since I've lived here - the first time was on the day of the bombings I had decided to travel in the afternoon instead of the morning or I'd have been on one of the trains.

Scary. But I can't help thinking I may have some kind of divine protection

Same weather here (Uxbridge). Some people wouldn't call it London, but the fact it has a tube station is good enough for me to call it London
it was pretty windy here last night too

i expect the curry i had may have been a factor!

Divine protection or havoc-magnet

(Kidding ofcourse. Scary stuff. :schwitz

You people are the masters of understatement, arent you!

I know of someone who was stuck in a hotel in Florida during a Catagory 3 hurricane, and overheard a Brit exclaim "I say, its rather breezy out there!"
RA-THER! Oh yes, SPIFFING!
OMG a little bit of weather!? 6 people effected ! HOLY SHIT, stop the press!

"Britain under siege from mini-Vortex
Weather woman decribes it as 'a shower with an up and down draught'
6 people hurt - major catastrophe, calls for foreign aid".

Jeez, it's just a mini-vortex. They're hardly uncommon. I wonder how many people died on the same day because of people not driving properly in the windy conditions?
I'm not far from there (North, tornadoe was NW) and i never heard anything untill I wastched the BBC lunchtime news on the day.

Feel sorry for some of the people involved, no home for Xmas.

A few days before it was very windy, couldnt even walk in one direction, wind was pushing you back.
Quote from Hankstar :Tornadoes, that sucks.

Always thought of them to blow rather than suck. Same difference I suppose.
A lot of people from England huh, heres is rainny and quiet cold.
