LFSW storage for setups.
Whilst this would - obviously - be something that would probably require something of subscription (20p a meg of setups or something), a feature where you could store setups on LFSW - and make other drivers (of your choice) able to access them. It would check the licence name of who is DLing the setup, and if they are allowed to according to the list they would get the setup.

This would make it easier for teams to have an effective setup system and could fund the devs more.

The command could be /w set {name of team} {setup name}

Obviously in the team there would have to be an agreed protocol for names.

E: Also, sets should be able to be set as private.

Ok - cant actually see a point, so -1. Plus, they are so small you could buy a website for about £5 a year (i know - i do it! Jakg.com is hosted for £5 a year with 100 mb bandwidth - not a lot, but enough) and then make a password-only section just for setups
Hehe i've got over 1000 setups summing up to an astonishing 200kb.

4p a month for that then
Woops, I actually found a couple of misplaced files in there, a spr and a layout. And I accidentally counted the .col files.
So,

925 setups, 120kb in total.

If you have not already gone round everytrack-back to front-up and down tweaking YOUR OWN setup to the way/style YOU drive; well then you will never get the best performance from your 'hardware setup'.
Duke everyone is different, and going through 'LFS Life' asking people to 'SS' is just going backwards imo; you'll never be the fastest/cleanest driver constantly changing your setup.

If the guy's that you say need a set for x track for an event or something, I suggest you direct them to Bob's setup guide, it's the only way to learn for yourself
I'm interested to hear the technical way of doing this. How to upload the setups to LFSW, why to upload, how can one upload and download them and what. If you expect to get fast setups from LFSW, who makes the decision when a set is fast or not?
Quote from Hyperactive :How to upload the setups to LFSW,

Er, upload it like the skins.

Quote :why to upload

So your team mates can access a library of setups without minimising LFS

Quote :, how can one upload and download them and what.

Upload - I told you, or by a /w set upld {setupname}.set
Download - /w set (licence of uploader) {setupname}.set - but it checks the licence to see if it is a licence allowed to download that setup (so it is a thing for teams)

The public sets are an option - most would be private.

Not needed at all. Folks are usually accommodating in the servers if you ask politely for a setup. Those who don't give out their sets wouldn't use it. Others will give you a set if you are polite about it. "Send Set!!!" in chat doesn't get you a set. Or yelling "Anyone have a setup" without telling what car you are using or just demanding a set in the chat won't get you a set. If you say "NighHawk-mind if I try your set?" then more than likely, no I don't mind and will send you one. I will even check racer's stats when they look like a total newbie to LFS and send them an easy to drive set (aka Bob's EasyRace setups) and let them know I sent it and they can try it. Just deciding to make a set public or not on LFSW won't allow you to do this.

As for teams, most teams already have their own website and forums. They already discuss and share setups. Many times they practice together tweaking sets in the servers swapping changes back and forth with the SS option.

Personally, I don't share setups with just anyone. If you demand for a setup in chat, that is the best way not to recieve a setup, from me and from many others. Also others really don't like giving their sets to anyone. But they may see someone who really needs help, or is really trying, or very polite and send it to help him out. Then 5 minutes later, that setup is now available to everyone because that guy just uploaded it on LFSW.
