Selling a cell...
The situation is this: my gf sold her cell phone to god knows who. There was agreed that she would get the money, and then she'll ship the cell. Now she got an e-mail from some banking company, that they have the money ready, and she should show the bank some sort of evidence she shipped the cell. Now we're wondering if this bank company is real, and how she could prove she shipped it. And what's our guarantee the money is actually coming?

This is the website of the bank: http://bankofessex.com/
N.B. The mail was written pretty badly, it all looked very good, and they used lots of fancy words, but my gf is following courses to understand this type of language, so she knows a lot of things or plain wrong.

Oh yea, the phone number that says it's toll-free, is that toll-free from any country? Maybe we can call it.
Its likely to be a con - a common method used on ebay and various other auction sites.

If the original agreement is not being kept by the other end, then the agreement is void.
Well, I think she'll better blow the sell off, I found the buyer on several other sites (even a chinese one) with the exact same story and deliviry address (which is in Nigeria, not USA, where he claims to live, it's a present for someone).

Problem was, she removed her cell from E-bay, but this guy still reacted to it somehow, or just before, so she couldn't sell it via E-bay anymore. I'll tell her to just tell him the deal's off.

Thanks for the quick reply guys!
I like to add: The second post from the bottom on the forum that was posted, it came from that e-mail, but the name was "Jonathan Bent".
She can report him as a non-paying bidder (npb), and relist her phone without incurring extra fees.

Serp.
I had the same feeling
On behalf of my girlfriend:
"Thanks guys for all your information. I guess 'he's playing with my feet' , they would say this in belgium... Anyway there goes my extra money :/ But happy I still got my cellphone"

(playing with her feet = Pulling her leg. *note from flippy *)
2 words which don't go together in an honest lawful way in this country... Essex and Bank, usually a 3rd word follows...Robbery Well done for calling off the deal.
Ha so true, Essex banks always p*** you off when something dont go right... *remembers something*... oh yeah, I live in Essex think ill change my bank when im older it might get robbed and i wont get my money :P
