What program do you use? In Photoshop its no problem. Just make a new layer for every new color.

If you use Photoshop you can use the skin-kits from masterskinnerz. They help a lot.

It's been a while since I've done any skinning, but tonight I was just fooling around a bit and this simple fictional skin came out of it. I kinda liked the colour combination.
