uh guys just so we're clear, thats a side view. i have a few feet on each side and a few feet back so thats not a problem. im just wondering if the clamps will be able to clear the lip and clamp on the long flat surface of the desk. i guess i can cut two notches in the lip if the clamps cant get around it.
Yes, I just dismantled one of my Momos and measured it all to be sure. The gap of 20mm that you require does not exist on the Momo (while the little ends of the feet are attached). However you might be able to get around the prob by removing the entire lower section of the Momo and the little ends on the feet of locking mech, then place your wheel on the desk and reassemble without the the little ends. You might just be able to tighten it enough to hold it still. It would be secured against the underside of the 20mm lip (by the two modified feet). Thanks to the Momo's design you have a third point of contact that should reach the underside of the desk itself.
**note that removing the little ends on the "feet" might require some force and I can't gaurantee that you won't cause damage by doing this. Proceed at your own risk/discretion.
**Just to be clear, after removing the little ends of the feet, the clearance is 52mm (actually it is a little more).
The short answer: If you remove the ends of the feet you should have enough clearance to fit the wheel to the desk.
The lip is too wide (thick) to accommodate the ends of the feet. The lip won't fit between the foot ends and the foot upright, the space is too narrow.
good drawing, that helps alot. maybe i can remove those little feet (can't you?) and put a shim under the tabletop and let it grip that. or cut 2 holes in the desk.
The ends of the feet are able to slide into three positions, so they are a seperate component and should be able to be removed. Once that is done the existing feet should clamp onto the uderside of the lip, I believe. Otherwise, yes, add a shim or a piece of wood to give more contact area for the feet to clamp onto.
DFP/MOMO Racing/G25 all have "thin desk extenders" that snap onto the clamp to allow use with "thin desks". They are shipped installed. To get the full 52 mm grip you need to remove these extenders by pushing them on the side and "snapping them off". Once off they can be snapped back on if needed.
Note: the middle "clamp" on MOMO Racing is not intended to be a clamp. It is a "anti tip" device that should not be tightened too tight. If this middle clamp arm in in the way it can be removed with a screw driver as this part uses "PEM" inserts which are also reusable.
