911 Nürburgring Drift
Late 80's video of 911 (RUF CTR) Drift on Nordschleife configuration i think.

I think this is beatiful, soo smooth, tricky car of what i have heard of...

I've seen the whole video of this, but I'm not sure he didn't really intend to drift, as this was the first road-legal car capable of doing 300km/h

But good old crazy german car, driven by good old crazy german driver on a good old crazy german track - that's always fun
I think too he is not really trying to drift. Just to get fast around the lap. This reminds me about the good Test Drive II in Amiga. It had a RUF in one of the car disks. It was clearly the fastest thing in the game, including F40 and 959. Maybe it is this (pic from the game)...

Legendary videos (search google for "ruf-nurburgring-1" and "ruf-nurburgring-2" to download the full files). Stefan Roser lapping in the RUF CTR 'Yellowbird'.
I am allmost sure he pretended to Drift on some corners (most), if not he would be a lousy driver wasting so much time on all those corners, also, looking at 0:046 you can see how he forces a quick turn in (twice there, typical drift technique) and when the rear looses it he just steps on it.

I CERTAINLY don't think he was trynig to drive first, seeing as some of those slides look very induced!

I bet he would have spun 500 times already if it were a fzr.
Niceee thanks ...Tim: 'Don't ask me where he went sideways, ask me where he went straight. That's an easier one' Stefan admits the drives tail-out 'because its fun' (darn yes)
Yeah, he's certainly inducing oversteer with some of his quick turn in moves. Balls of steel, balls of steel. And the driving skills to back up the balls....
This video pretty much sums up what makes me grin from ear to ear when it comes to 'racing'.. More specifically; car control. The challenge of a powerfull not too grippy RWD, rear weight biased car on the uber Nurburgring.. It really is better than porn! Car control that is only doable in LFS and GPL..

There is a 700MB version of the two laps available, wrong aspect ratio but that is easily corrected in media player classic. The 11 / 13 MB files don't do this justice!

Cool to read that article
Everytime I see soimething like this I think that it looks like LFS...but then I notice that they have a lot more powerful cars and they still seem as "loose" as in LFS. I know this is a dead topic but when I look at the real life LX videos () the cars seem to handle like LX4s with all that sliding and aggressiveness. But they have more power than our LX6s. Or that RUF video. It seems a bit less loose than our FZ50 but has over 100bhp more power.

Still nice video. And totally agree with Niels about that car control
For what it is worth, the RUF is rated at 0.9G .. In LFS we can get what... almost 1.2G longitudinal and 1.1 lateral? And the fz50 weighs more and has less power, yet indeed it is a bit loose.

I would also say that, although LFS is great, it is still off. A 1967 F1 car has double the power and at weighs less than the LX6, and the LX6 probably the same or more grip.. Imagine a dual power lx6 in LFS!

I've recently went back to GPL which, despite its shortcommings, is imo less wrong than all the other sims.. Plus you can't fault the idea of driving a Ferrari 312 or Eagle Weslake at the Ring, lapping sub 8 minutes..
i never realised how accurate gran turismo 4 is.

Thanks Amp88, good stuff

Need to be remembered that old 911 turbos were called widowmakers, not without a reason, their handling was perhaps not most easy and that power did come with good horse kick. You had to really drive it or it did drive, you I have heard some drivers saying.
Sure this Yellowbird was bit better than those early turbos, but still not car that you would like to give your son
