I've seen a lot of Happy New Year messages the last couple of days. I thought it was just because the mobile phone networks got jammed at the actual time

Scottish New Year (or as we call it Gonnagit'pished) starts around the same time as the Irish variation, and lasts almost as long. But due to the fact that Guiness doesn't travel well over water, we have to stop a day early
