RCAF Fighters?
I was just wondering what, if any, fighter jets were in service in the Royal Canadian Air Force? I was poking around and having a look at my favorite jet, the F-14 Tomcat, when the thought occured; what does Canada have?

Too bad the F-14 is out of service, and soon the F117 Stealth is too. Cool planes of my childhood

Canadian Air Force have F-18s for their fast fighters... others are smaller and only server other purposes: http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/equip/equip1_e.asp
Quote from JTbo :http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/ first hit from google, looks like they have F18s at least.

That's odd, that didn't even come up when I searched "RCAF" or "Royal Canadian Air Force." Musta been a typo on my part

The F-18 is another very snazzy looking machine.

Thanks for the link I'll have to do some poking around.

OMFG!!

The 117 a 'cool plane from your childhood'???

I _WORKED_ on operational Hawker Hunters and Gloster Meteors when I was in the RAF....God I must be old!!!! :gandalf:
I got an old picture somewhere of a canadian jet fighter from like the late 1950's. The really unique thing about this plane was that it took off from water like a seaplane. I guess Canada's Military came to the same conclusion that ours did with water based jet planes...That it's a totally stupid idea, but
the Canadian plane looked cool and also looked to perform a lot better than the ones we made.
well tweak, you have to keep in mind (its actually obvious lol) why they are taking the F14 out of service because
1: price it takes just to fly one (much less start one up)
2: not very efficient anymore really (in any way)

soon (2011 i believe) i think the USAF, Marines, Army, and i believe the Navy will be getting the next generation JSF jets the; i think only the marines and navy if the navy is getting them will have the VTOL system

lol Racer Y.. hah.. i remember watching videos of them testing the X-15 on water.. boy did that not work out haha
