Automessage Tool
Just trying out this tool. In the readme it says

"First of all you have to set up LFS to communicate wit LFS:AM.
Usually you just have to type /insim=44444 into LFS' chat."

Type it in where? Does it mean press T and enter it. Tried that and nothing seemed to happen.
Nothing obvious will happen, but LFS will activate insim and listen on that port - after it's done, tell the program you want to use to connect.
I have no idea about the tool you are using.

But yes you would type the insim command into a normal text box (which is where any of the /commands are entered). That would just make LFS "listen" on port 44444, so that any InSim program could then connect to LFS for whatever reason.
sorry, I don't get what you mean by

"after it's done, tell the program you want to use to connect."

He means, that you must first type that InSim command, and after that, tell the other program (the tool) to "connect" to LFS.

Or just start it up... whatever... maybe it connects automatically. Basically every InSim program "connects" to LFS, so it can "control" LFS.

After you type "/insim=44444" as the instructions of the program say then click on "Connect" on the program's window (Automessage)

"Connect" is on the top left.

sussed it! Thanks mate!
Another way is to set it on the shortcut you use for starting LFS.

Right click on the short cut and select properties. In the new window that comes up put /insim=44444 after the shortcut link.

ie:

\Live for Speed\LFS.exe" /InSim=44444

This will set insim up every time you start LFS
Cheers for that. Are there any other handy command line arguments?

A whole lot of them actually. Read "README.txt" in your LFS directory.
