Can't Connect atall.
Hey, I am asking this on behalf of a friend so sorry if the desciption of the problem is not perfect.

Well he bought S2 today, he managed to unlock it fine, he can play single player but everytime he goes online he connects to the master server but when it reaches loading textures he gets a network error in the top of the screen something like NOTSOCK then he gets "Can't get track info" error message.

He has disabled his firewall and still gets this. He also can't do a tracert on the master server.

If anyone could help this would be fantastic. Help a new S2 racer play the best game ever
Sounds like he's behind a proxy, a highly restrictive network firewall, or his network infrastructure is stuffed.

Any chance you could give us any more information? How is his PC connecting to the internet? etc.
Thanks for a swift reply. He is behind a router, he is unsure about the details as he can't access it and as I am not able to access I can't provide much information, Should I try and get him to change security settings forward certain ports? Sorry I don't know much about them as I was barely able to set up my home network lol
You don't have to forward any ports to play online I'm afraid, only if you're hosting an online game. What he may have to do is open out going ports (i.e. from the LAN to the internet). Depending on his firewall and his router he may have to do this in multiple places. Typically the Windows firewall may give you behaviour like this. If you get him to minimize LFS (shift+F4), he might discover that its asking if he wants to unblock LFS. A quick test would be to disable it totally for now.

You said he couldn't tracert master.liveforspeed.net. Does it resolve to an IP address?
Hey no it says timed out everytime he does the tracert. He has just got into my online server and raced about abit which is great however he is timing out alot the same with when he comes on my teamspeak server he times out every 10 mins or so. Im no good when it comes to configuring routers so I am unable to help him with that.
You'd expect that it wouldn't get a full trace route to the master server. There's at least one device that doesn't respond to pings on the way there, and the firewall at the master server doesn't respond any more, so the final hop will fail.

I'd get him to check his ISP and see if they block anything. If he's not confident to ask, let us know who his ISP is and we may beable to tell you anyway
Hey thanks for being so patient. His ISP is NTL 2mb cable broadband which is actually the same as what I use and I have been using lfs for months with no problems. I don't know if there will be a solution to this but he has just informed me that he is using a pretty low spec pc but I can't see how that would have any effect
