Apple's new iPhone Revealed!

I've read that the 8GB version is ~$600 with a 2 year Cingular contract, 4GB version about half that.

It only has a 2MP camera, and no 3G though.
£350 I heard, with a 2 year contract.
400€ they said on TV
oh ****. Everyone in my school has a ipod and a phone, now they'll all et an iphone. What a waste of money.

$10 says that in two years it is a piece of shit because everyone has it and it'll be slow as hell. Just like that dam Razor.
899-999 euros here in Finland, no contracts.

Total fail.

I want one. No, I don't own an iPod. Or a Mac. But this device seems like the first PDA/phone/camera/MP3 player that actually does a good job of all of them. Comparisons with the RAZR are unjustified- the RAZR's Motorola, and therefore shit.
Doesn't Motorola make some of the internals for most phones on the market anyway? Although if so I'm sure this would be an exception.
I think I might get it a couple months after it is released. I already have Cingular, and I would need to start a new plan soon. I just have a crap phone atm

Finally! i've always wanted a hand grenade cell phone!!!!

actually.. i wont be surprised to see a gagillion of these things, but what ever happened to the lawsuit against them and the 'other' "ipohe" ?
As a keen mac (but not iPod) user it does nothing for me.
I already have an Apple mobile phone.

Thankfully it's a work thing, sitting in a box behind my desk like some archaic museum piece - but the history of the Apple Newton teaches us quite a lot about the future of the Apple iPhone...

I own a Mac, I doubt I will be owning an iPhone. Because I own a Mac.

Maybe I just know what to expect.
Oh, the legend of the Newton. I am actually thinking about getting an iPhone, just because I need a cell phone, and why not get one that I can use for more than phone stuff.
Quote from dawesdust_12 :and why not get one that I can use for more than phone stuff.

why not get one that can do all of this and doesnt keep you from doing more ? like installing nes emus
I have great trust in the homebrew people, They can break the iPod's stuff and install Linux/Rockbox on it, I know they can break this.
personally i wouldnt want to have to hack into a device first to make full use of it if i could have the same without the hacks (and cheaper too)

When Apple released the gadget they were crowing about it being "revolutionary", but anyone who has been following technology in the last ten to fifteen years would have expected such a device to surface sooner or later. Hardly revolutionary, it has a "duhhhh" factor of about 1000. When they release one with a built in bourbon dispenser, then they can brag, but not before then.
Apple's greatest strength is taking something that's already been done and improving it. Usually not by introducing more features but instead focusing on usability. Exactly the opposite of most manufacturers.

Not dissing the Iphone itself but here's three infamous words for the unfortunate people planning to get Iphone when it hits the market:

Apple + first + revision.
Not exactly revolutionary is it? A phone, oh woop, a camera, oh woop, a media player, oh woop, a web browser, oh woop.... All of this exists on other phones - the only difference is Apple have settled for maps when others have GPS or am I reading that wrong?

no your totally correct, this phone does nothing my phone cant do, mine plays full films (and can store up to 5) plays songs, has the internet, and a camera, but mine also has tom tom sat nav, and my phones about 3 years old now..... to apple,

(they will sell millions anyway because of the name and hype)

I bet your phone can do things the Apple Phone can't...like download content over 3G.

theres 2 main differences
a) the i phone has a very good touchscreen no current phone can remotely compare to (multitouch and no need to use your fingernails mostly)
b) unlike other phones its not driven by a desktop type menu with seperate applications but one that integrates all functions instead ... which will be a huge turn off for any real geek but something to draw the less technoliterate crowd into the smartphone market
