Well if you give them 20 posts, i really wouldn't expect them to bother - it wouldn't really make any more S2 licesnes, afaik

again im not saying it would, this is just a suggestion.
Would be annoying if you are demo-racer, and you want to ask some things about the license, but because you can only have 15 posts per month, you can't ask it and you forget the game and all...
:/

btw: what would we have to do if there wouldn't be a shaun? He is posting more than 15 posts per month, and is helping the community. in some very rare occasions
This will not attract to buy s2 , noobs illepall
Just shortly quoting myself here:
Quote from Linsen :Thinking about it, part of this community already constantly discriminates against demo racers by insulting and badmouthing them, which is bad enough.

And as if that actually needed any proof:
Quote from andybarsblade :(and besides most the demo user's ive seen on here have been crackers anyway)

i wonder how many threads in the last month have been locked with the demo user being banned because of users admitting they use a crack or they've been found out to be using one....as if that actually needed any proof
About 6 this month, maybe 5. We were all demo users once though.

[edit]make that 8.
Quote from tristancliffe :Lets make anyone who likes 4WD only be able to post once per month. Oval racers 3 times per month. Drifters 4 times per month. People who drive 4WD cars on the oval sideways should be banned.

Is it just me or are some of these really good suggestions?
Quote from al heeley :About 6 this month, maybe 5. We were all demo users once though.

.....not me i bought it straight after watching a vid of it on youtube. guess im on my own there

And I've seen probably three times as many on this forum in the last week alone who just got S2 licensed after playing the demo for a while (let alone the ones I have not actually seen on this forum). Plus about three cases where demo users were accused of being crackers when in fact they weren't as it turned out later.

@andybarsblade: I hope you don't think it makes you a better person to have bought a product without making sure that it would actually suit your needs or preferences. And if you were offended by my earlier post, I appologize. That was not my intention. I'm just sick of this constant slanging of demo users and the unjust accusations.

.

Nice one niffer
We do our best to help run a well ordered community forum in support of this great sim, one that welcomes in demo users and new customers, encourages them to participate in leagues and helps them solve problem issues and get the most from the game.
We do what we can to discourage crackers and the game has a big and loyal following, a very strong, well-established community. A lot of members contribute a lot in terms of extra resources.
There are always cases of mistaken identities and a bit of mob hysteria with waving of pitchforks once every now and then when it comes to disouraging crackers, sometimes ugly to watch but in general the sentiments are good and strong.
As a programmer I find it really hard to justify the 'I will crack this game and see if I want it' mindset.

The truth is people who say that rarely go on to buy it, there are a few exceptions like LFS, Everquest, World of Warcraft etc where you cannot get the meat and bones of the game without paying - but truth is, most crackers have a very trivial attitude toward legitimate software - yet their backs are right up against the wall and their claws out the moment someone steals their livelihood, or worse, their latest FOX skin...
Quote from andybarsblade :lets call mx5 drivers hair dresser and take the piss out of them for being gay and driving a girls car....oh wait we already do, wind your neck in son and get that chip off your sholder.

cut and blow sir illepall
how about this ... anybody with more than 5 posts per day gets his license status reset to demo every two month to make up for traffic costs

Quote from Becky Rose :As a programmer I find it really hard to justify the 'I will crack this game and see if I want it' mindset.

if you like it buy the game ... part of just about every nfo

on a more serious note

Quote :The truth is people who say that rarely go on to buy it

the flaw with this logic is that someone not buying a game if he can play it with a crack isnt necessarly one sale less ... but im drifting way off topic

Look at it this way, at least the forum gives them a possibility to show their stupidity to expose themselves as crackers.

Concerning the suggestion, no I think it's a bad idea. Part of what makes LFS great is the community and being a part of that and experiencing it would more likely be an incentive to get S2 than limiting their participation in it.

Well said. There's a ton of hypocrisy out there.
andybarsblade - I'm not too keen on your suggestion, as I believe (as others have said) that demo users can and do make a valid contribution.

(Edit: I should have made this clear - I don't think limiting post counts would encourage someone to buy S2)

However, at least you're thinking of ways to try to increase S2 sales - it's a pity you have to find yourself in the middle of a feeding frenzy for doing so.

Serp.
I seriously doubt the feature "can post more often than 15 times per month in the official LFS forum" is going to make anyone want S2 more - it would just make the devs look like pricks.

The other regulations on avatars and signatures don't have anything to do with increasing S2 sales either, but rather something that needed to be introduced as some people would register accounts to put inappropriate content in both avatars and sigs. Spammers are usually pretty rare and quickly dealt with via banning, so there's no need for an automated anti-demo-racer-spam system either.

As Jakg said, there are demo racers that put alot of code / time in for this game.

Best way to help the LFS/S2 cause is viral marketing. If your into forums other than this one (heaven forbid ) put a link to LFS in your signature. Make the LFS url your name on MSN etc.

My signature on other sites, says; "The Worlds Most Realistic Driving Simulator" with a link to a really good youtube vid, and the main site.

The game speaks for itself, as wicked as it is.
