Wheel button assignments. What do you use?
I use the wingman software to assign keypresses to the DFP buttons. That way both the key and the button on the DFP work. Thought I'd post up my settings and see what other people use. Here's what I use:

Shifter = gear up/down
Paddles = look left/right
4-way = arrow keys
Circle = Horn
Triangle = F9
X = F10
Square = unused
L2 = used for Ventrilo push-to-talk (this doesn't work right yet for some reason)
R2 = Pit limiter
L3 = F11
L4 = F12
Start = unused
Select = unused

With this setup I can easily look left and right, check the condition of my tires/suspension, turn the pit limiter on/off, change my brake bias/ARB/fuel load/tire change (using L4 and the 4-way), all while keeping my hands on the wheel. I never drive the F08 so I don't use paddle shift.

So, what do you guys use all those buttons for?

What use are the arrow keys?

I use:

Gear shift on paddles
Button 3 = clutch
Button 4 = handbrake
Button 5/6 = Look Left/Right
Left/right paddle: shifting
Button 1/2: look left/right
Button 3: horn
Button 4: clutch (however I use autoclutch)
Button 5: Pit limiter
Button 6: F9
Shifter backward: handbrake
and the steering wheel itself for... STEERING!
use the D-pad thing for the arrow keys, so you can scroll and select the setup options in f11-f12.

I use start select r3 and r4 for f9 through f12, and I forgot what the other buttons were because I had to ship my dfp back after only using it for 3 days.

Exactly. That's what I use them for as well. I never thought I needed them until I was down to 1.5% fuel after running a race at Kyoto. After that I decided it would be nice to be able to pull up the F12 menu and set it to add a splash of fuel if I really needed it to finish the race.
The DFP buttons would be a nice advantage. Momo (black) here with shifter, paddles, and 6 buttons. Cue-ball, I quit using the wingman software for my wheel. I had the force feedback quit on me too many times. The last time was at the start of a league race, couldn't just pit-fix-reenter on that one. I now use joy2key.exe at the recommendation of someone else here and it works great. I just set my FF in the windows gaming options.

I shift with the shifter.
Paddles for view left/right.
2 buttons for horn and pit speed limiter. Other 4 are "Hello :-)" (I try to be as friendly as I can), "Thank you :-) (again-friendly), "No Problem" and "Sorry!!". I try to use "Sorry" as soon as I can as I truely am sorry if I cause an incident. I do everything in my power including taking myself out of the race to avoid causing someone else to crash, but sometimes stuff happens. Wish I had more buttons. I saw on the net one time someone who made a button panel mounted inside a Momo wheel with 8 extra buttons. That would be great if I could only find it again. If I ever do, I'll post the link up incase others would be interested.
With my Momo Racing I have the following:

Unshifted:
Paddles = gears
Stick shifter forward = Horn
Stick shifter backward = Handbrake
Button 3 = look left
Button 4 = look right
Button 5 = Flash lights
Button 6 = Zoom in/out cycle
Button 7 = SHIFT
Button 8 = F9,F10,F11,F12 cycle

Shifted:
Paddles = Arrow left/right
Stick shifter forward = Up arrow
Stick shifter backward = Down arrow
Button 3 = Pit limiter
Button 4 = HUD on/off
Button 5 = Reset car
Button 6 = Vote restart
Button 7 = shift
Button 8 = Change camera
Didn't want to bother trying to describe what button, so I made this really quick:

I've never thought of that. This way you could assign every button from the keyboard to the wheel. At least in theory?

I've never had a problem with the Wingman software in many, many hours of play. Also, since I use the DFP the Wingman software is required if I want to take advantage of the variable lock-to-lock (I run 720*). If you don't have a DFP there's really no reason to run the Wingman stuff, but if you want to use something other than 180* or 900* then you really need it.

How do you cycle different keys using one button?

Save me doing anything. That's how I have my wheel setup (when I have it). Only I don't have a secka wheel. Just my ol' MSSWFF.
Some interesting setups here, it's inspired me to look at sticking my pit request functions onto the buttons -never even occurred to me before. My setup includes something which I haven't seen mentioned in the forums, and I can't believe more people don't use it.

I've bought a basic (but good quality) microswitched old-skool joystick, thus -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Competit ... 5QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

That's now cable-tied to my chair arm, and using Joy2Key, I've got an automatic, sequential 'tiptronic' style shifter in a joystick, and I've still got 4 free fire buttons, and left and right axis left on the joystick, to assign to anything else I choose. Total cost of project - about a tenner. I recommens you try it, I tend to drive Formula V8's and all the other high-end cars with the Formula Force 'paddles' (Sorry - crappy buttons) and the GTi's and other 'stick-shift' cars with thte joystick. Great Fun.
