engine adjustments
Hi,

Would it be possible to allow some tweaking of the engine within the setup. I don't mean mods to it lol bad idea... but being able to tweak the tuning etc. Would be cool...

Another idea I'd really like to see... is an implementation of the podium. Its the one thing missing, and all it needs is the winners pull up to a predefined spot, n then make a model animation of the bod getting out of the car doing some celebrating, waving to crowd etc... receiving trophy, rather than the usual crappy pic of it... would add the final element. Then at least there's somethign to race for lol... the glory at the end lol...

I'll ignore the engine tuning idea but some people won't.

More important than the end, IMO when a driver spectates they should have to park up and the driver should get out the car.

No.

Maybe for S3 when everything else has been done.
If engine damage was implemted it would nice to be able to fine tune cars engine.
So setups could vary from sprint performance to endurance run. Which is good tbh. I don't have much knowledge about engine tuning and what settings would actually improve it's performance but shorten life and vise-versa but undoubtably there are some
Small Changes, Such as Ignition Timing Adjustment, Fuel/Air Mixture etc.
I'm in favour of adjustments where the car can be tuned for a specific track. Surely engine tuning affects all tracks, so there will just be "the best settings" and we're effectively back at square one... with the exception that the default settings will be pants and newbies will struggle to keep up even more than they already do.

We should definetly be able to change throtle response, fuel air mix (already posted) maybe even be able to adjust the rev limiter.

There are few things that make the engine tuning thing negative:
1)how to set the limits for the engines' "tuneability"? From 1 lap hotlap engines to 24 hour endu reliability/power/rev range/fuel economy/etc...
2) How to make the engine tuning work, how to present the various aspects of engine tuning without making it overly easy or hard
3) How to prevent people from adjusting their engines über powerful using some totally berzerk values

It just takes too much work. imho

EDIT: I have to agree that with some level of engine tuning you could get some more excitement to longer races when people were running their engines with sligytly different settings. Or making special qualifying engines

Engine tuning really is unnecessary. Possibly adjustable rev limiters could be added for endurance racing but it would be better to just have an adjustable shift light (and get rid of the perfect one).

Other engine tuning is a bad idea. Although for the sake of it I will disagree with Bob that different tracks could favour different engine torque/power/cooling configs although no race team would ever normally build engines to differing specs for different tracks with modern mapping it could perhaps be done, in fact I wouldn't be suprised if F1 cars already do it to cope with different climates.

Who wants worse throttle response. If this was a setting wouldn't people just put it on max? Fuel air mix would always be at 0.9 < lambda < 1 for peak torque.

The revlimiter would be the only change I'd support, but again I think 99% of the time, except in the longest races (4 hours and over) it would also be on max. The adjustable shift light is another thing I'd like to see, and get rid of the perfect light we have now.

I agree with this. I hate the "next gear is better" light. It should be keyed from RPM and nothing more.
I can see how moderate (in terms of realistic for racing series) engine tuning could be interesting for some people as soon as the damage model is perfect (lol), but for now I'm against it -- and probably always will be, as that would be another aspect I have no clue about. Just like setups is now .
