Setups from inferno...
Hi racers...

I think that will be very good oportunity to download setups from Inferno in LFS... what do u think about that ?
I have no reason, why should? Simply go to inferno's setups website, and download them all
I think that has no sense too..some are not that good to that, and that is not even a point. That's the good of the game too, you prepare your car for race, cause a set can be good for me and not that good for you.

I have not found single setup from Inferno that I would been happy with, specially those for demo track and cars seem to be rather, uhm weird so to say, I can't possible imagine how I could race with them or get solid good laps either, maybe one good lap out from 1000, but really they don't fit for me.

Me too... Tried many of their sets, but nothing excellse... Maybe, as i've heard, there are great sets for BL1, but, for the other tracks, nothing useful.
BTW, it could be a start from making your own set, without starting from the default one...
I love inferno sets (most of the time - obviously there are some duff ones). but I learnt to drive with crazy WR setups in the first place, so I know how to drive them now.

If you start out trying to make a car handle like you want it to, rather than learning how to drive how it wants to be driven I can imagine that inferno sets suck.
I used inferno sets in the past. I download and before even driving, I change some stuff around to convert from a hotlap set to a race set for me. First thing I do is change any locking diff to around a 50/65ish clutch diff, put some pressure into the tires for cooler temps, and take a bit of camber out so I don't have (blue/blue/red)---(red/blue/blue) temps across the tire. In fact, the majority of my setups are based from inferno sets, but they are now so far tweaked from original that they no longer remotely represent the original download that it was.
setting cars up without the setupfield would be a lot harder without the setupfield - at least for me.
especially in cars i don´t drive that often i really need the setupfield.

but i don´t think there should be a possibility to download any inferno-set right in the game.
i´d rather like it to stay as it is now.

99% of my sets are from Inferno. I would be seriously lost without the Setupfield. I'm happy with the situation atm, but often their homepage doesn't load or loads only half of the page. Too many hits/bandwith or to satisfy the need?
Almost all of the setups I use are from inferno, because I'm total crap at creating my own, so, yeah, I would be lost too without it. But I still don't think it is necessary or desirable to be able to download them from within LFS.
Given the restricted nature of Inferno sets I don't think it would add much, particularly for beginners. Just to be different I have to say I've only been to inferno twice, to check what wing angles the WR set are using, and then put that on my own set. Might have driven it for a little. TBH I can't ever remember getting a setup from anybody that made me go wow, that's great.
personally i am a heavy user of inferno setups. I havent the time nor patience to actually set my own setups.

i dont get the WR's with them, and im pretty sure I could go faster if I did put in the time researching and making a setup like the others guys do. like tristan says you need to drive the setup just like the guy who made it so you need to find their WR replay too! then play copy cat! yes I guess that makes me a shit driver or someone who isnt the best but I just want to have close bumper to bumper racing there and then. im not trying to be competetive, I just want to be able to keep up with the pack.

However, in regards to the OP's suggestion of making inferno sets available in-game:

I think it works well as it stands, inferno is a 3rd party resource, but still if you integrated it into the game youll just have a different 3rd party resource show up because all the inferno sets would be standard.
I grab inferno sets and make some aspects of them a bit more sensible.

Someone made an LFS team setup station thing - maybe a way of downloading sets from an external database (possibly private - so it would check your LFSw name before letting you DL the set) would be an idea.
i think if you could upload/download sets to a database or setupfield from ingame there would be alot more setups to chose from.. as racers wouldnt have to go threw alot of trouble to upload it.. just press a button and its done.. could be great for new racers that possible dont even know setupfield exists

Maybe if it was rated by a category like race set and hotlap and so on that would help abit aswell
pointless
