Your recent racing event!
You see, most of us LFS guys are known to be petrolheads, the guys that wont mind going to bed with a sore neck from looking at every car that happens to pass by, naming what brand, type, fuel, engine or cylinders it's being powered by.

And there's the LFS guy that cant get enough of races. He knows the TV guide by heart. Top Gear is a must-watch. The F1 season is a good cure against wanting to go to sleep. And the WRC is your dirty side people get to know after a while.

Lots of those guys see going out as going to a motorsports event. If you're going to one, dont mind telling us about it! It's practically worthless without pics, but remember though, give us an option to view the pics anyway -> post links to the pics. Keeps our 56K petrolheads happy, so they wont have to miss out on Top Gear while waiting for the page to load.

For a start, here's my latest event: Monaco aan de Maas (Monaco in Rotterdam)

'Monaco aan de Maas' was an incredible demonstration of Formula 1, Formula 3000, Le Mans cars, classic formula classes, Dakar trucks and more through the center of Rotterdam. They placed barriers throughout Rotterdam making for a 2km track. http://www.rotterdamracing.nl/english.asp

Another petrolhead LFS player told me about him wanting to go with his mates so we decided to meet up there, smell the burnt rubber and have a few beers! Though it's a waste that my mates arent that interested in racing and cars in general as much as me, so I couldnt convince one to come along. I need to find better mates. :P
Anyway, these kinda threads are worthless without pics or vids so I'll give y'all a vid of what me and Rick recorded and I edited when I got home.

Last racing even I went to was Saturday Night Stock Car Racing at the Mosport Speedway oval. REAL stock car racing

Couple weeks before that, I was at the 'Sommet des Legends' at 'la Circuit Mont Tremblant' in Quebec. Some truly INCREDIBLE cars were there. I was there with my father, and his ol highschool friend Joe. Joe happens to work for Carguide magazine, and he's always got a new car to drive. He said that weekend that he hasn't driven his car -a Datsun 240z- in over 3 years!! For the weekend, he had the brand new Acura RL to drive. Man... that thing had BALLS! It was great fun in the mountain rouds near the track aswell .

And, because of Joe's credentials, all 3 of us got in as members of the media . We were right up at the guardrails alongside the track! Ya know that big rock face at the inside of 'namerow' corner? We were standing on it The pic that has no cars in it, was taken from about 20 feet away from the rock face, looking back at the previous corner. You can see the fence, which is where the fans were limited to. Really thinking about it, without media credentials, the facility really lacks for the fans. There is not many areas you can go - you can't even get to the south loop! I must say however, that in general, the facilities are top-notch. FIA spec, they could host an F1 race there.

Unfortunately, the race being mid-month, Joe had to be back in office on Monday, so we were only at the track on saturday. We still got to see some great cars racing realy hard. Saturday night we had a nice BBQ... with steak <drools>

Anyways, I've attatched pics for your viewing pleasure. Can anyone guess the origional driver of that Ferrari?

MAGGOT

[EDIT] Forgot to mention, the pics are huge. So you can see more detail. 56k beware (they're worth it tho <drool>)

MAGGOT, is Sommet des Legends annual? I'd like to see that next year.
Quote from sweetreid :MAGGOT, is Sommet des Legends annual? I'd like to see that next year.

Yep, sure is! I think this year was the 4th or 5th year. Next year, we are planning to go up for the full weekend, and be there on all 3 days of racing (fri-Sun)

unfortunatly, i still aint got my pics done, but my last event was the donnington uk moto gp event, and what an event it was. i got sooo soaked, and i was in the perfect place, on the inside, about middle of craner curves.

planning on going to nurburgring nordishliefe next year on my bike, so that should be fun

I posted some photos here.

The attached pic is my new background
moto gp @ donnington last year, was the last time i went to a track,

i live 5 miles from donnington race circuit, man its an amazing track and a great track for the spectators,

3 days camping over and plenty of £££ for beer, im quite lucky really due to the missus liking motorsport so she came along too, great atmosphere the whole weekend,

i took some pictures but there either 1, very booring or 2, very blury
it's hard work trying to take a picture of a 190+mph road rocket half drunk with a digital camera that seems to have a pause from when you press the button to when the picture is taken,

if you ever get the chance to go to moto gp, dont hesitate go!!

moto gp gets my vote over F1 every time,
My last event was the American LeMans Series in Portland, Oregon. Had the RV setup right by the track.

These are big pictures so 56k people, beware.

Thanks for the comments. For those of you who don't really know, the last picture is of Andy Wallace. At this race he was driving the Dyson team P1 car. Almost took the win, but the car ran out of gas on the second to last lap. DOH!

That was one of the very cool things about this race. They had an autograph session before the race. I met Andy, James Weaver, JJ Lehto, Ron Fellows, Johnny O'Connel, Wolf Henzler, Robin Liddel, and a bunch more drivers. It was a blast. I have cool autographed posters from all of them.
Petit le Mans
Quote from NutDriverLefty :Come to the Petit le Mans at Road Atlanta and say "Hi" to The Nuts (NutDriver Racing)!

I might have to take you up on that someday.
WOOO!! Just got back from Mosport not 2 hours ago. What a weekend! The ALMS race itself was a bit of a disapointment, but the rest of the racing was pretty good. Especially the Honda/Michelin series; Really close racing, some contact, and a pretty heavy crash.

The beers at night were welcome aswell I'd upload some pics, but I don't have time. Need to finish getting packed for college. I won't be around again until Christmas probably.

Time for an update to this thread... While there was the UK meet, I went to Nürburgring the last two days, read it HERE
Went to Mallory Park yesterday and there were Cooper 500s in the 750 Trophy (a championship for historic 750 and 1172cc. specials as well as 60s F3). One of them pushed a rod through the block in the first race, leaving a huge whole in the single cylinder, amazingly they managed to change the engine for the second race
