Nope, as above nothing wrong with you, just something wrong with everyone else in the world. I saw it somewhere above i think everyone here though different in everything else has a love for cars/bike (anything with an engine it seems)
I found my love a long time ago with my dad being a mechanic there was always cars about (usually in pieces which was good to see) and ever since ive loved cars and now im in my 3 year of university going into car design

Actually maybe theres something wrong with us all
If that's what you love brother, go for it.
More power to you!

That's a fair point, the guy isn't asking the most well rounded set of individuals on the planet.
Quote from Vain :Cars don't go haywire and scream at you and do silly stuff when you dump them.

Quote :Actually, right now, I'm not listening to music but to the sound of an onboard video of a Gallardo doing the Nordschleife. Thrills me everytime.

Somehow those to quotes don't fit... How can one be into machines and not notice their broken souls when they are discarded?
Reading your first post gives me the impression that you're a rarity.. Working brains! Thats only witnessed by about 10% of teenagers! The ability to write is even rarer..

You're a few years ahead in some ways. I sort of had the same thing though at a later age (~18..19). I didn't fit in well with the first year uni students but made some good friends who where a few years older. I got far more socially adept but still I couldn't keep a conversation going with the average first year student. It can be tricky as the majority goes for 'quantity' (many parties, booze, shaggin around) and it sometimes seems that people don't have personalities.

Only much later, when I was about 24 did things change a bit and since then I match better with most people of my age. I do notice that I lack that sex/drugs/rock&roll teenage experience even today but at least I find that once people get in their mid twenties they actually come out with personalities that they've always had, probably, but kept hidden while living the 'standard' teenage life.

I think its a balance thing. If life is one big spring break party its no good but if you're too distant from those things it can hamper your social life, and social life is very important for us human creatures.

Patient: Doctor, doctor, my wife thinks I'm insane!
Doctor: Why does she think you're insane?
Patient: Because I like sausages!
Doctor: That's silly! Lots of people like sausages. There's nothing insane about liking sausages. I like sausages, too, in fact.
Patient: Really doc? You must come round and see my collection!

It's all relative
Sounds like you're a normal petrolhead to me.

Just try not to pick up many bad habits when you're driving so that you sail through your test. Then you'll be the cool one with the car that the sexy laydees will be asking for a lift

Of course I do. My heart also breaks when I have to leave one of my beloved ones. (Right now I'm sad because you made me remember those cars! Damn you!)
But still, they don't go haywire and do stupid things when they face the inevitable.

Angryminer
As long as you don't like driving car while your drunk, stoned and have something with a girl at the same time, I would say you're pretty normal
I'm 18 and I have kinda the same thing going on. At school everyone is yakking about girls, going out, drinking, no drugs though And all I really want to talk about is driving. I never really drove my car hard (although I received my first speeding ticket today), but tonight I took it out for a spin, it's just a ford fiesta, 1.8 diesel, but I know some roads around here, twisty, hairpin, in the woods. Accelerating to 70km/h after a hairpin was already fun, I wonder how it'll be when I get a decent car
Quote from XCNuse :the hell?! drinking at 14, LOL! their livers will be shot before age 20, thats... cool.. i guess?? .... not lol

If that was true, 99% of finns would have their livers shot at age of 20

As said earlier many times there is nothing wrong if you like cars, driving and all stuff related. Just don't drink (too much lol)
Haha yea well I don't have to ask my parents to get me a beater car to work on. Crystalle (my cosusin with the car) actually wants me to help her replace the piston rings when she does them, I'm looking forward to that, and we are also going to be upgrading the turbo's when we get the money, so hopefully I will get something out of it.

Thank's for the writting comments but to be honest I write better stuff then that, I was tired when I posted that.

So this thread doesn't stay one wayed, what gets you like that? Whats the one thing in life that gets you to the point of complete relaxation?

Sleep - Too many night spent working till midnight then gettin up bout 8 ish n doing more work till midnight lol so its always nice when my work is in and i can sleep 12 hours a day
Quote from dropin_biking :Haha Bryan James Markle. I doubt I will ever be famous, maybe locally, but nothing ever national, or international. And I'm pretty sure I will be staying away from drugs, my experiances with marijuana and E wasn't too great.
~Bryan~

How could any experience with E be not great? Haha, E is the best feeling I've ever had. However, the after-effects weren't so great (Feeling really retarded for a whole day afterwards)

Bryan, once again, there's nothing wrong with you. Then again, like someone mentioned you are asking probably the wrong crowd. We're all a bunch of car-obsessed maniacs. A good analogy would be like my girlfriend asking a makeup group if her obsession with makeup was a bad thing, of course they're going to say no! :P

I want to wish you the best of luck with your driving and I hope you get so good that we'll hear about you from up there
Well yea the actual experiance from E is relativly fun, but comming down is the worst in the world. But I run track, and mountain bike, so I have to keep my health up, so E isn't really the way to go. Speaking of car obsessions, whats everybodys BEST feeling when driving a car?

The launch. Its so much fun being thrown into the back of your seat and slamming through the gears to try and get ahead of who you're racing.

My CRX isn't turboed yet, but when I get a turbo I'm sure my launches will be much more fun.

Another really good feeling I get when driving is when I'm taking a corner fast and the wheels start to slip a little, its just a friendly reminder that cars aren't on slots and you're actually racing.
^Actually, launches on turbocharged cars are a bitch, too much spool and its like taking off on snow, too little, and the engine doesn't sit at the right rpms when comming up through first gear. But when you hit the sweet spot it is just amazing, then once you get into second or third and the turbo REALLY starts working you can just feel the torque hold you against the seat.
~Bryan~
The best feeling?

When you go at a corner far too hot, but come out the other side on line and a gear higher than usual, sweating and wondering how you held it on the edge of the traction circle considering the pace....

Followed by jumping up 30 places in the "fastest lap club" due to the 4 tenths you saved on that corner, and signing that form at the end that means your name goes up on the wall.

Launches are boring, and besides, there is only one launch per race, and a great many corners.
The best feeling for me is at the end of a good, hard race with someone, even if I don't beat them. (Applies for LFS too)
Bryan, take it from a person who took every drug imaginable, plus having a bit of a heroin problem...they arent worth it; its stupid and boring. Nothing compares to getting high from doing exciting things, and not from taking E and feeling like a moron, or smoking weed and just being lazy and stupid, or taking heroin, feeling great for about 1 minute and then shitting your pants and puking your guts out.

Bryan, do you like to read? If so, check out this book: http://www.lastopenroad.com/finzios/books.htm
hehe, sounds like most people recognise themselves in some way in the threadstarters story good post, i have to say

Ever tought of starting to race? karting, mini's, anything with wheels
if you've got the passion (and a bit of talent) you might get really really good

you might amaze everyone in 10 years
not many people have accomplished something great or pushed the boundaries by following the "mainstream" crowd.

many people probably tought schumacher or so was weird too, but he kept going and eventually amazed the world.
same thing with scientists, sportsmen or businessmen, they start out on the edge of the society, looked down upon by everyone, but then they get recognition and everyone looks up to them

Keep going, enjoy your passion and even if you don't get world famous, you'll probably had fun doing it
I have to agree with the "time stood still" feeling. When I was racing karts, and things weren't going right, I was upset. But, when you hit on a great setup, or bolted on a strong engine after finding a nother bit of power on the dyno....pure bliss. Like the time when I went to a flat dirt oval where everyone said you couldn't pass on the outside. I was riding behind the leader and he was hugging the inside at corner exit. Getting frustrated, I went to the outside. It took 4 laps to complete the pass, but man, what a rush. Then there was the race indoors, in a hockey rink (no ice mind you) where they put rosin down to give traction. I hit on a great setup and turning that kart was cake. Or when I was racing the national kart series here in the states on pavement ovals. Withstanding 2 G's in the corners, going 90+ mph on a 3/10ths mile oval, then coming off the track, your fingers gripping the wheel so hard that you can't straighten them out for 10 minutes.

It's true what they say when you hit the right combo...time slows when you're going fast.

Damn...why did I quit racing karts again?? I must now go ponder that question.... illepall
^Because you found LFS, thats why, it has faster karts.

While I would never ever recommend this to anyone, hallucinogenic drugs are totally awesome.

I stopped doing them about 10 years ago and it's no doubt a good thing I did - I can tell that my overall mental health has improved by leaps and bounds in the past ten years - but for someone with my already-a-bit-tweaked outlook on the world they're just a godsend. Sadly I've also known a few people who have been tipped over the edge by LSD, mushrooms, even just strong skunk, and have ended up sectioned in the nuthouse. Every triphead knows a few like that, and that's why I would never ever recommend tripping to anybody. If you're unlucky it can totally ruin your life.

So yeah: Hallucinogenic drugs are actually good, and LSD and 'shrooms aren't even addictive in any way, but don't do them.

make the most of it mate take it from me as i kid i was a aircraft and car nutcase and still am, i was the quiet one too quite happy tinkering with cars and wotnot but you see wemen are very calculated and to cut a long story short they will get you in the end, im married with 2 kids now..

make the most of it because soon enough money and time will be going other places (by demand i might add )

but as for near future addvice if you see a female taking interest run for the hills if you get cornered just talk about engines for an hour, explain how to change the crank on your toyota or somthing and how mutch torqe you have at the wheels now you upgraded the diff, that normaly works, but sooner or later they will get ya i carnt give advice there becasue there like sharks they get while your not paying attention...

best regards and good luck...
