SP2 firewall/network issue
I've used my PCs restore disk and have managed to stop the process to leave me with (I think) a blank copy of windows. I've installed firstly my Netgear router from the disc it came with and then downloaded latest chipset drivers. Windows updates and SP2.

It was all going great until I installed SP2 and now I can't seem to do anything to get my connection to work, turning the firewall off (and rebooting with it off) does nothing to help with my network, also tried repairing the connection which tells me there was a problem creating a new IP.

Any suggestions?
Possible DHCP issue, can you log ino the router?

And what do you mean installed the Netgear router disc? Never needed software to access a router before.

^^I've got no major issue with my router like they detail, it worked fine under SP1 the only thing I did was install SP2, now I can't remember what to do to get it to work again, fairly sure it's a Windows firewall issue. When I upgraded to SP2 last time I had to fiddle with the Windows settings to turn it all off and let me use my connection but I can't remember what.

Sorry just think I didn't make it clear this is a problem with one PC connecting to a (Netgear) router through a (Netgear) wireless adapter. Router and internet are fine, using it atm to post this on my laptop.

The disc installs the drivers for the wireless adapter and an alternative program for selecting wireless networks, totally optional AFAIK. When I scan for networks they show up when I then choose to connect to my one the indicator momentarily goes green then almost instantly disconnects as if it is being blocked.

EDIT - Switching to the Windows network selection system solved it, odd because before reformatting I used to use the Netgear system, not sure if there's any difference TBH, maybe I was using an updated version for SP2
