huge difference between a gnome rotary and a wankel rotary. the only reason a Gnome Rotary is useful in planes is because you just mount the damn prop straight to the engine.

In cars you will not find a single Gnome rotary engine, (unless some crazy nutter did it for the hell of it)

Quote from pasibrzuch :Oh vtec vtec, what is wrong with this? In Japan it was the smartest way to have engines with 150% power of europan engines, with capacity and better fuel restrictions. Japanese point of view on technology is nearly always long time before Europe or US are.
Germans will build 15litre 8-turbos 128valve with 32 intercoolers engine, but Japan engineers can do the same with 6 litre NA engine and give 5 years guarantee for it! It's just different country, different point of view, and ricers using it are just making an idiot looking from cool technology.

true, but the thing is, everybody wants the v-tec for the name, not for it's potential, no doubt there will be a lot of skin requests containing huge v-tec decals and stuff (like the type-r badges), just don't want to see LFS turn into a sim for people ricing out the XRT with v-tec/type-R/turbo/whatever badges.
ok?
Quote from AutoXLR8 :u forgot the americans(sorry, i dont mean south americans)... they will build an engine with 50liter which has only half power of an 15liter german engine and a 6liter nippon engine...

Yeah, but that doesn't count - If they run out of oil, they just start another war to get some.
more heavy metal v8s v10s v12s w16 you get the idea ooo and more turbos and superchargers mmmmm anything to makes it go forwards very very quickly. some nice varible timing 4 bangers too.

more road style super GTs v8 twin turbo like my fav car

Supras are I-6 afaik. I would love to see a big cammed V8 and a hot V12. I think that if the FZR had a deep sounding V8 I would drive it daily as I hate the sound it makes now. The XRR is kind of cool I guess but the FXR sounds stupid. I think most of the cars could do with some better sounds.

wow, cheap shot.... but seriously, if the current war is about the oil, we sure as hell arent seeing any of it back home
LFS needs some good old propper torque spitting V8's.....some raw and rough like a sort of mad 7.1 lt V8 out of a dodge charger R/T or something....maybe like a V8 cobra type kit car?
1. electric motor (a-la the tesla roadster)
2. gt40 old-school v8 with the crazy induction roar
3. hayabusa engine in a uf1
Something with a LOT of turbo lag, and when it spools up, it makes it very hard to control on the track.

Stupid troll... or you don't know squat about american blocks. 500hp+ hotrods are a piece of cake in the US, especially compared to the price to build and reliability in most of the rest of the world.
That same large-displacement philosophy works pretty well in Australia, but you wouldn't mention that since your intent is trolling.

That said,
Why would the FZ-Porsche have a V8/12 instead of a flat-6?

An exotic V10 or V12 would be cool.
So would an old 2cyl thumper (or whatever they were) in an RR to compete with the UF1.
So would a big american block, in either classic or modern chassis.
The more diversity the better.. the TBO class could use some non-4cyl. competitors.
I would like to have a car like IOHEV

Oh yes, forgot to mention that the 'new fz' should be an exotic, a real super car not like a Porsche copy....thought that people would understand without mentioning, a FZ5 with V12 is a funny idea
In-wheel electric motor
Jet anyone?
I would know it, except for a solid precedent of (opportunistic or not) anti-american poopheads.
engines from the LS and LT series...
Although crazy, i'd like a M120 AMG 7.3l V12, 641bhp

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M120_engine

In other words, the engine from the zonda

Evenly mad, maybe this one: Ferrari's F140 65° V12 with 4 valves per cylinder, dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. Bosch Motronic ME7 fuel injection is used and the engine is naturally aspirated. It displaces 5998 cm³ (366 in³) and produces 485 kW (651 hp/660 PS) at 7800 rpm and 657 N·m (485 ft·lbf) at 5500 rpm. The redline is 8000 rpm.

those 2 would be ideal in a Ferrari FXX-like track car. Or maybe a MC12 look-a-like ?
Redline at 8000 rpm? Pfeh, even UF1 can better.

I would really really really like to see all cars in LFS revving like they should in real life. I don't know what to do with all this ultra high rpm, because there is no need to search for power. Just floor it at 1k rpm at it will go nicely up to 10k rpm
It's best to shift the FXR (and FXO) at about 7k rpm and the LX4 at about 8k. Well below the redline.
a camel, dosn't need eny fuel for weeeks, right? lol
Imagine if we a nuclear powered cars......

AWWWWW>>>>> My REACTOR splits more atoms more economically than yours.... my reactor floats past your rotary!

LOL!

I guess we'd need alot of 'heavy' water in the pit lanes!!
Supercharged
I'm surprised given we cater for most engine types, the devs haven't looked at supercharged engine. It's probably a real standout omission from the range of technologies available in the real world today.

While I know the are many who don't want the FZ50 to have any more power or a bigger engine cause that then puts it almost at the FZR level as would bigger donks in the other faster cars. I think there is room for a supercharged version of the FZ50, XRR, FXR, FZR if we look at replacing the 4 cyl turbos (as an racer selectable option?) with either supercharged 6 or V8 engines. Or perhaps as a option, have the ability to put a v8 in the same cars

When the proper turbo modelling comes out ( to satisfy those who need the absolute perfect turbo response and therefore makes the turbo class go like the clappers and beat anything non turbo

I would like to be able to match a 6 or V8 (supercharged or not) in the same car shape and model against it etc

I'm sure you know what i mean, like I am an older aussie, and grew up with V8s it would be great to have the option to pit the current XRR up against a XRR with a 5.0 litre V8 just to get a "simulated" real comparison between the two engine types, I'm not suggesting this become a tuning thing, just an option for players.

Questions like "is a modern turbo 4 banger in this car faster than the older technology of a V8" etc could be answered and give a bit of a boost to the game.

Club/team racing could match "our V8 team against your turbo team" etc
Okies I've said enough, you know my meaning
Shannon
I like idea of being able to have multiple engines for the same chassis/car
A turbocharged 4 cyl (thinking lancer evo-like) vs a V6 of V8 with similar bhp would be fun
FZ50 supercarged sounds weird. it has a flat engine which is quite unfriendly to superchargers. Actually, mostly V engines are friendly because you just slap in ontop. I'd prefer a turbo FZ, it's be more Porsche like
I really wish they'll make turbo version of the FZ road car. An LFS version of the 911 turbo. IRL, 996 turbos with reliable 700+hp engines do exist courtesy of specialist porsche tuners such as RUF, Brabus, etc. In fact they are actually listed as car manufacturers since they do such thorough and professional work. They basaicall re-engineer cars to higher levels of reliable performance instead of just banging on a few bolt on mods and hoping for the best.

Due to the serious unfair advantages a properly developed 4wd car, 4wds are all but banned from track racing (of course there are exceptions such as circuit prepped EVOs and Subarus, but those are specilalized classes, not mainstream racers such as GT1s, GTRs, LMP1s, etc.

Wonder what a twin turbocharged, 750hp FZR could do with the same aero as the current FZR but with a rear biased 4wd system, like the 40/60 F/R maximum front bias of RL 4wd porsches. The tyre package should be similiar to the current FZR too, but maybe just slightly wider. Some power to the front wheels in such a powerful car would do wonders for putting power to the ground whilst helping to relieve the inherent tendency of the current FZR to eat rear tires significantlyfaster then the fronts. An interesting experiment.
