Same reasons as said, if you watch the pedals and wheel and compare it to the game and the sounds then it seems very much that the little kid is driving.

Smart kid, my nephews are way old than he is (I forgot their ages) and all they did when I let them play LFS is say "The car drives it's self" "It wont go forwards" "How do I go faster" "It won't stop". They almost ripped the wheel off the mountings too, that sucks, when I saw one of them hoisting himself up with the wheel I stopped them from playing on it, just because I'm sure my brother in-law wouldn't want to pick up the bill to buy me a new one.

That's almost the exact same way why i had to trow away my old wheel...
